Are you a case manager looking to make a meaningful contribution to end-of-life care in the Netherlands? Are you a BIG-registered nurse with strong communication skills and the ability to handle stress? If so, you’re the case manager we’re looking for.
As a case manager, you are the process coordinator at the Euthanasia Expertise Center. Every person seeking assistance who registers is assigned a case manager who remains responsible for the process throughout the entire procedure at the Euthanasia Expertise Center. You are responsible for triage (determining the course of action based on a substantive analysis of the medical file) and monitoring the further progression of the process. You serve as the point of contact for individuals seeking assistance and their loved ones, healthcare providers, and the public. You will answer a wide range of questions about euthanasia and related topics that come in via phone and digital channels. You are responsible for mapping out the path a case takes within the institution and maintaining contact with the outpatient staff handling the patient’s euthanasia request.
You will report to the Case Management Team Leader, who is also a colleague on your team. In terms of the organizational hierarchy, as a case manager, you will report to the Care Manager. You will be based at our office in The Hague. After the onboarding period, you will have the option to work from home one day a week.
In addition, you will work as a community nurse at the Euthanasia Expertise Center to stay connected to euthanasia practice. This involves 4 to 8 hours per week that can be scheduled at your convenience; this is not included in the scope of the Case Manager contract mentioned above.
• You are intrinsically motivated to contribute to the goals of the Euthanasia Expertise Center;
• You have completed a nursing program at the associate degree level;
• You are BIG-registered as a nurse and have extensive and relevant practical experience (at least approximately 10 years);
• You are willing to work as a community nurse at the Euthanasia Expertise Center;
• You have broad medical and nursing knowledge and strong clinical reasoning skills;
• You have an affinity for and find fulfillment in working in a service-oriented organization;
• You have strong communication skills and can handle stress well;
• You are able to work both independently and as part of a team;
• You are decisive, meticulous, proactive, and take the initiative;
• You are able to maintain accurate records;
• You have good general computer skills.
You will be working in a professional organization with a pleasant atmosphere. We are initially offering a one-year fixed-term contract. If both parties are satisfied, this will be followed by a permanent contract. The salary depends on your work experience and can range from €3,939 to €5,725 gross per month based on a 36-hour workweek (salary level as of January 1, 2025).
