What is your role?
The campaigner plays an essential role in this. Your work consists of a mix of campaigning and movement-building. You ensure that as many people as possible are involved in our work. You also help other NGOs understand how injustice is reinforced by technology. And how the internet can actually contribute to bringing us closer to an open and just society.

Here’s what you’ll be doing specifically
You are the sole campaigner at Bits of Freedom. That means you’ll be working at all levels, from long-term strategy to day-to-day implementation. Broadly speaking, these are your main responsibilities:

• Through movement-building and capacity-building, you ensure that the network of individuals, groups, and organizations committed to equitable digitalization grows and becomes influential;
• You’ll help our policy staff capitalize on campaign opportunities—whether through a well-timed Twitter thread or by securing funding for an awareness-raising project;
• You organize some of our events, such as the annual Big Brother Awards.

We have a team of 10 people. As a campaigner, you’ll work closely with our researchers, communications strategists, and fundraiser. You’ll report to the director.

What we’re looking for in you
We think it would be helpful if you recognize yourself in most of the following:

• Motivation: You know how to bring out the best in others and how to inspire them to take action;
• Planning and organizing: You work independently, take the initiative, and bring structure to the process;
• Environmental awareness: You have gained experience working with people and groups dedicated to creating a better world;
• Writing skills: You write in Dutch fluently and without errors.

• A position for 32 to 40 hours per week;
• We have a strict pay scale policy to prevent pay disparities. Depending on the number of years of relevant experience in a similar role, the salary ranges from €3,345 to €5,140 per month for full-time employment (40 hours per week);
• We don’t offer a 13th-month bonus. However, we do provide vacation pay (8%), 25 days off, a pension contribution (10%), and a phone allowance (up to €70 per month).
