The VO-raad's informational resources

The VO-Raad is working, together with the PO-Raad, on a data warehouse (hereinafter: DWH) containing data from and for schools, school boards, and partnerships in primary and secondary education. Together with the development team, we develop and manage the DWH and make data available to various apps (such as https://scholenopdekaart.nl/). The apps help users gain insight into their students’ educational outcomes, the development of personnel data, the financial status, and so on. We collaborate extensively with other public entities that process data for the education sector, such as DUO and the Education Inspectorate.  

What will you be doing?

First, we’ll walk you through the data model of our data warehouse so you understand how the data is organized. Next, you’ll get to work with specific data files; you’ll analyze, verify, and report on them so the development team can load, model, and make the data accessible. From a business perspective, you’ll play a key role in helping to design and document the logic within the model.

You’ll be responsible for preparing data for loading, which includes describing the data and the associated business logic based on existing information products. The developers work with Snowflake, and you have SQL skills or are eager to improve them. You’ll participate in testing from a business perspective to verify that the data is processed correctly and that this results in reliable figures in the various apps. We work together using Scrum, which allows us to achieve results in short cycles and stay informed about who is working on what. The business team consists of colleagues you’ll work with daily and whom you can also turn to with substantive educational questions.

• You enjoy analyzing data sets and ensuring that the data is as complete and reliable as possible when you share it with the developers.
• You enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team where you can learn from one another in the areas of data analysis, data warehousing, and business intelligence.
• You enjoy testing the data stored in the data warehouse to ensure that the applications display reliable data to users.
• You believe it is important to develop reports and dashboards so that people in the education sector can work professionally.
• When you discover new findings and insights in your work as an analyst, you enjoy sharing them with colleagues to find solutions or exchange knowledge.
• You enjoy working with Scrum in two-week cycles, during which you prepare the developers’ work (refinements) and evaluate it together (testing and retrospectives).

We ask:

• You are eager to learn and detail-oriented, and you want to further your career as a business analyst in the education sector.
• You have completed your associate’s or bachelor’s degree, are ready to start working, and have already gained a few years of work experience as an analyst.
• You are familiar with SQL, SPPs, R, and Python, and you’ve mastered Excel.
• You have experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, or JavaScript solutions.
• You have experience working in a Scrum team.
• You want to work with a smart team that likes to ask questions and come up with solutions on its own.

You will receive a one-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of renewal. The VO-raad offers a competitive salary (CLA-VO scale 10, with pay grade depending on education and work experience) and an excellent benefits package, including a generous number of vacation days, an end-of-year bonus of 8.33%, an excellent pension plan with the ABP, and an annual training budget. A combination of working from home and in the office is certainly possible in this role.
