Within the Zaanstreek-Waterland Safety Region, the fire department, police, GHOR, and municipalities in the Zaanstreek-Waterland region work together to prepare for and respond to incidents, crises, and disasters. Within the fire department, 110 professional firefighters and 500 volunteers are dedicated to preventing and responding to incidents. Our fire department is divided into 2 clusters and has 23 stations. We all work together to build a future-proof fire department that operates 24 hours a day!
A 24-hour shift combines excitement with relaxation. After what can sometimes be an intense shift at one of our three professional fire stations in the region, a large part of your workweek is already behind you. This leaves you with plenty of time for your personal life and relaxation.
As a firefighter, you and your team will be deployed to fight fires, provide assistance during water accidents, and rescue people and animals using the appropriate emergency vehicle. To perform the varied work within our professional organization, it is important that you function well as part of a team and practice frequently to maintain your professional competence in all areas. In addition, you will perform a management role that allows you to apply your current education and work experience.

A dynamic work environment! A salary ranging from a minimum of €2,228 (scale 5) to a maximum of €3,500 (scale 6) gross per month for a 36-hour workweek. If you are regularly scheduled to work irregular shifts, you will receive a fair shift differential allowance. In addition to your salary, as a Fire Department Diver you will also receive an allowance of €212.07 gross per month when you are scheduled to work. Other employment conditions include a good pension plan, a discretionary budget of 18.63% of your salary (this budget includes your vacation pay and year-end bonus), travel allowance, a leased bicycle (optional), and you can work out with us!
