Would you like to use your financial expertise to help shape smart innovation policies for carbon-neutral technology, quantum computers, space exploration, and new medical technologies? Do you have a knack for working with numbers and people? And do you know the ins and outs of the federal budget? Then we’re looking for you! You can do just that as a coordinating policy officer for finance and the budget cycle at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy in The Hague. Join our passionate team and help us drive innovation that makes the world a better place.
Finance and policy are inextricably linked. You will conduct in-depth financial analyses, develop strategy, and manage financial instruments. Through your work, you will help achieve the policy goals of the ministry and, in particular, our Innovation and Knowledge Directorate. You will have ample opportunity to immerse yourself in our work and the political landscape. This will help you discover where the priorities lie and where you can make a difference. In doing so, you will advise the directorate on the right course of action and seek solutions that advance innovation. You will carry out this work together with a financial policy support officer, with you in the supervisory role.
These are your main responsibilities:
One of the best parts of your role: you’ll interact with many colleagues both within and outside the ministry. You’ll also collaborate with the Financial and Economic Affairs Directorate and the Central Government Audit Service. As a team, we’ll ensure a smooth transition and a warm handover. We are therefore pleased to offer you the opportunity to spend a few months working within our ministry’s budget and accountability cycle. Starting in early December 2023, you will work alongside the current financial coordinator.
If you don’t meet all the requirements but think the job is a good fit for you and believe you can make a positive contribution, please feel free to send us a cover letter and convince us that you’re the right person for the job.
Skills:
In addition to your salary, you will receive an Individual Choice Budget (ICB). The ICB consists of money (16.37% of your gross annual salary) and time. With the ICB, you can make choices that suit you and customize part of your employment benefits. For example, you can choose to have a portion of your monthly income paid out whenever you wish. You can also convert this budget into leave and vice versa, or spend it on tax-friendly purposes. The Dutch government is strongly committed to personal growth and career development and offers numerous opportunities for this. Secondary employment conditions include various study facilities, company fitness programs, full reimbursement of your public transportation costs for commuting, and partially paid parental leave.
