Would you like to contribute to diversity and inclusion in the workplace and further your career as a policy officer? Then come work at the Social and Economic Council!

Policy Officer for Diversity and Inclusion

The Social and Economic Council (SER) advises the government and parliament on the broad outlines of socio-economic policy. The SER also facilitates agreements and covenants and performs administrative tasks. Independent members appointed by the Crown, employers, and employees work together within the SER. The organization has a staff of approximately 140 full-time equivalents.

SER staff work in a particularly dynamic environment. They operate in close proximity to the political sphere, collaborating with a wide range of civil society organizations that often have divergent interests. Policy officers work in project teams to address current socioeconomic issues. The organization has an informal atmosphere.

We believe that diversity within our organization contributes to the quality and support for our work. We strive to be an organization where everyone can be themselves and is given the opportunity to grow.

About the Sustainable and Inclusive Entrepreneurship Program

You will be working in the Sustainable and Inclusive Business Program. The program employs approximately 18 policy officers who focus on diversity and inclusion in the workplace, sustainable development, the housing market, and international corporate social responsibility. As a diversity and inclusion policy officer, you will work with five colleagues on the Diversity in Business Charter and advise companies on diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

What will you be doing?

  • Requesting and analyzing the action plans of companies and public organizations that have signed the Diversity Charter.
  • Providing advice to companies and organizations that have questions about diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the efforts of the charter signatories.
  • Acquiring companies and organizations.
  • Writing content for our website, newsletter, and other platforms.
  • Presenting insights on diversity.
  • Maintaining our network by, among other things, organizing meetings and webinars.
  • You will contribute your expertise to various activities at the SER on a wide range of topics, from healthcare to working conditions, and from economic issues to social entrepreneurship.

What do we expect from you?

  • You work at an academic level in terms of both work and thinking.
  • You have several years of work experience.
  • You have knowledge of and/or experience with diversity and inclusion in the workplace in the public and/or private sector.
  • You have an affinity for one or more aspects of diversity.
  • You have strong analytical skills: you understand the essence of complex issues and can distinguish between the main points and the details.
  • You have the ability to transform complex material into well-organized and engaging pieces.
  • You have strong verbal communication skills and the flexibility to adapt your presentations—in terms of language and style—to the audience and/or the situation.
  • You are a natural networker; you actively seek connections and maintain relationships with relevant individuals and organizations.

What do we offer?

This is a position for a minimum of 32 hours and a maximum of 38 hours per week, initially for one year, with the possibility of a permanent contract. Start date: as soon as possible. You will be working as a (senior) policy officer, with a salary ranging from a minimum of €4,505 to a maximum of €5,910 gross per month for full-time employment. The other terms of employment can be found on our website, https://www.ser.nl/nl/ser/werken-bij-SER/Arbeidsvoorwaarden.

Information and Job Applications

You do not need to write a cover letter for this position. In addition to your resume, we ask that you answer two questions. You will receive a response to your application by phone or email no later than one week after the application deadline. The first interviews will take place on Monday, April 17. A second interview will take place on Tuesday, April 25. We aim to complete the application process by the end of April.

To ensure that all candidates are evaluated consistently, we use scoring forms. We use these to assess job-specific criteria during the application process and job-specific competencies during the interview stage. During the selection process, we ask all candidates the same questions so that we can assess the extent to which you meet the job requirements. Do you have questions about the opening? Please contact Alexander van der Vooren, program manager.

Will you be our new colleague? If so, please apply as soon as possible, but no later than April 12, 2023, via our website https://www.ser.nl/nl/ser/werken-bij-SER/vacatures/diversiteit-inclusie.
