Your role

At Next033, we work on projects that require collaboration, an innovative approach, and perseverance—both within our organization and throughout the city. We believe it is important to evaluate, learn, and grow together. As a Nexter, you will work as a project manager, process facilitator, or consultant. You will tackle complex issues on behalf of various departments within the municipality. These may be projects the organization is working on together with the city, but also internal issues—such as projects in the areas of sustainability, equal opportunity, or service delivery.

Your role in a nutshell:

• You’ll work on a project basis on temporary assignments throughout the organization. You’ll often switch between multiple assignments at the same time and set your own schedule.
• You will be involved in research, consulting, guidance, organization, or project implementation. In this way, you will contribute to projects or policy development in various fields.
• You help clarify complex issues, take them to the next level, and deliver concrete results—together with the team you work with.
• You bring fresh ideas and explore new approaches. For example, by introducing different methods or perspectives, or by making smart use of information from outside the organization.
• You play a unifying role, creatively resolve ambiguities or obstacles, and know how to get people on board.
• You’ll have the freedom to innovate and take initiative. Do you have a great idea for a new activity that we haven’t thought of yet? Go for it!

This is where you get started

Amersfoort is a city with over 160,000 residents, where history and innovation go hand in hand. It is a growing city that is developing at a rapid pace. A city full of sustainable and social initiatives in which everyone can participate. In 2023, this will even earn us the international title of European City of the Year. About 1,500 colleagues ensure that Amersfoort remains a great city to live and work in. We do this together with the city: with residents, entrepreneurs, volunteers, and partners. Who do you work with?

The Next033 team consists of 8 to 10 colleagues who, just like you, work on projects across the entire organization. You’ll collaborate on a daily basis with the colleagues on your project team(s). In addition to the weekly team meeting, you’ll see the other Nexters on the work floor to brainstorm, provide peer feedback, or just catch up.

The team is part of the Programs and Projects Department. This is the citywide department responsible for process, program, and project management. The department consists of about 145 people, including both permanent staff and contractors. We are a team of doers, focused on results and collaboration. The atmosphere is dynamic and optimistic, and we work well together.

What we offer you

• A salary of up to €5,247 gross per month (scale 10 of the Municipalities Collective Bargaining Agreement) based on a 36-hour workweek. We will determine the level of responsibility for the position and the corresponding salary based on your qualifications and experience.
• An Individual Choice Budget (ICB) of 17.05% to supplement your salary. This allows you to choose between extra cash, additional vacation hours, a tax benefit on part of your gym membership costs, or other benefits.
• A three-year employment contract. You will be part of Team Next033 for these three years. After that, you will become an internal applicant and, like other internal candidates, you will be given priority when applying for a permanent position with the City of Amersfoort.
• Flexible working hours with excellent opportunities and resources for working from home, ensuring a healthy work-life balance.
• A cell phone, laptop, and data plan.
• Full reimbursement of public transportation costs for your commute (2nd class) or a bicycle allowance.

What you bring

As a Nexter, you’ll get to know various policy areas and departments, and it hasn’t yet been decided which assignments you’ll be working on. That’s why we aren’t looking for colleagues with specific professional expertise, academic backgrounds, or municipal experience; instead, we’re curious about your background and ideas. However, we do think it’s important that you have a feel for the challenges we’ll be tackling as a municipality in the coming years. These include issues related to sustainability, public space, inclusivity, and ICT/information services. As a person, you are curious, work efficiently and in a structured manner, and can adapt quickly. You follow through on your commitments and know how to get things done. Moreover, you are eager to take concrete steps within “your” projects and know how to bring others along with you.

You should also bring:

• College or university level of work and thinking. You have completed a college or university degree or have demonstrable work experience at this level.
• 2 to 5 years of work experience, and you’re now ready for the next step in your career.
• A healthy dose of courage, perseverance, and flexibility.
