The Amsterdam-Amstelland region is characterized not only by high population density and a bustling economy. It is also a heavily industrialized area. With one of the largest ports in Western Europe and transportation routes crisscrossing the region, there is a challenge here to safely combine living, recreation, and work. Will you help us keep the industry safe?
With your skills and knowledge of the (chemical) industry, you make the sector safer and contribute to a safe living environment. You conduct inspections at companies that handle large quantities of hazardous substances. In addition, you provide advice on the storage, use, and transport of hazardous substances. You understand the risks posed by hazardous substances and can convince your counterparts to take the appropriate measures. Thanks to you, there are fewer accidents in the industry. And if an incident does occur, the consequences are limited and can be managed.
You will often work in multidisciplinary teams. Depending on your knowledge and experience, you will participate in national projects. Within our organization, you will also frequently collaborate with colleagues from other departments. You will identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement, and contribute ideas regarding knowledge development, quality improvement, and process efficiency. Finally, you will ensure the effective transfer of knowledge and information to our colleagues in incident response, professional competence, and operational preparedness.
You are an enthusiastic and eager-to-learn person who exudes self-confidence. You draw energy from the results you achieve in promoting a safe industry. You realize you can’t do this alone, so you excel at collaborating and building a solid network. You are honest with yourself and recognize where you still lack knowledge or experience. We give you the opportunity to further develop yourself in a safe and supportive work environment. We believe this is important, because only then can you excel in your work.
You are accustomed to working in a dynamic and complex environment. You communicate clearly and are able to persuade others, both in writing and verbally. You do this not only through the substance of your message, but also with tact and sensitivity. This requires a flexible and proactive attitude.
Above all, we’re looking for a friendly and fun colleague who’s a pleasure to work with.
In this role, knowledge of the capabilities of our emergency response organization is a significant asset. We therefore encourage candidates to hold a secondary role in emergency response, such as serving as a fire watch in our emergency response support pool, or on-call positions such as Hazardous Materials Advisor.
The Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region is offering a position within a dynamic and ambitious organization as part of a professional team, with ample opportunities for personal development.
The Amsterdam-Amstelland Fire Department is part of the Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region. The Risk Management Department, a team of approximately 35 colleagues, is part of the Fire Services Sector. Risk Management advises the competent authority, other safety regions, external parties, and the board on preventing and mitigating risks of fire and other incidents. We are where we can have the greatest impact on creating a safe living environment.
