The Dutch National Opera & Ballet is the largest cultural organization in the Netherlands and is located in the heart of Amsterdam. We bring magic to life on stage. With over 600 colleagues from 30 different countries, we work together every day to create spectacular opera and ballet productions. Every detail counts, which is why we value craftsmanship in every part of our organization. Our mission is to enrich the lives of as many people as possible with the wonder, beauty, and meaning of opera and ballet.
The Human Resources department is looking for a consultant who can coach and support managers—primarily within our ballet organization but also from various staff departments—on a range of HR issues. You will actively engage in discussions on topics such as sustainable employability, employee performance and absenteeism, as well as behavior and culture. You will serve as a project leader or participant in various HR projects—such as fair practices, diversity & inclusion, social safety, and strategic workforce planning—thereby contributing to the development of our HR policies. You will also answer employee questions regarding matters such as employment conditions and career development. We are looking for someone with a strong personality and coaching skills. You know how to strike a good balance between strategy and execution. You are good at reading people, have the courage to take risks, and are not afraid to ask probing questions.
Are you an independent consultant with strong communication skills—including in English, given our international colleagues—and comfortable working with digital systems? Would you enjoy playing a role in this unique environment? Do you have several years of experience? If so, apply on our website and come meet us soon to see if we’re a good fit.
Our HR department consists of three other advisors, three staff members, an occupational health and safety team, an internal communications & change team, and an HR manager. The interviews will be conducted by the advisors, the HR manager, and the ballet’s artistic director. We look forward to meeting you during an interview in the second or third week of October. Dutch National Opera & Ballet embraces diversity and inclusion; job openings are open to everyone. If you don’t think you fully fit the profile, we encourage you to apply anyway.
