"Do you recognize the importance of
social participation and would like to use your expertise to support libraries
to help strengthen basic skills and promote digital inclusion?
Are you an independent, results-oriented consultant who thrives on
"Are you interested in development and collaboration? Then we're looking for you!"
As a Basic Skills Advisor at Rijnbrink, you will work closely with libraries in Gelderland and Overijssel and play a key role within various networks at the national, provincial, and local levels. Your work is multifaceted and requires you to switch between different roles, such as advisor, project leader, trainer, and point of contact for various stakeholders. You will be part of the dynamic Advisory Department, where you will work with colleagues and libraries on social challenges.
You identify opportunities, assess trends, and translate them into concrete plans and actions. With your knowledge and curiosity, you foster innovation and strengthen programs that promote self-reliance and participation among diverse target groups.
The library plays a crucial role in the social sector, focusing on personal development and civic engagement. You will work closely with libraries and colleagues on programs designed to reach a wider audience among target groups seeking to improve their basic skills.
Collaboration with community organizations at the local and regional levels is essential. You will analyze needs, translate trends into practical solutions, and actively contribute to the development and implementation of promising projects.
9:00 a.m.: On the third floor of our office in Deventer, several colleagues are already hard at work. You find a flexible workspace and get started. At the coffee machine, you briefly share your experience from yesterday’s meeting with several library project leaders, which focused on “Reaching the Functionally Illiterate.” You are the project leader for this provincial collaborative project. A complex and challenging role.
10:00: Later this week, you have a consultation with a library that wants to further develop the IDO (Digital Government Information Point) into a development hub. You’ll prepare for this by discussing the matter with a consultant from another provincial support organization (POI). With the knowledge you gain, you’ll be able to really help the library take the next step.
11:30: The development of local Language Centers needs a strong boost. Based on issues identified at the local level, you will work with colleagues to develop a plan to advise and support the Language Centers in their professional development. You will actively seek collaboration with the project leader for the family approach so that you can pool your expertise and take effective steps together to address low literacy.
12:30: During your break, you catch up with a colleague while enjoying a sandwich and some soup at the Werkcafé.
1:00 PM: A meeting on living technology is scheduled for this afternoon, with several library directors and staff members in attendance. You organized this meeting together with a number of pioneers and healthcare partners from the region. The agenda was developed based on questions gathered from the library community.
4:00 PM: During the final hour of the day, you’ll make the final preparations for tomorrow’s “sharing session.” Participants are library staff members working on the theme of “Integration of Newcomers.” Best practices will be shared, and attention will also be given to mapping out the local environment, partners, and opportunities for collaboration.
5:00 PM: Finally, update your timesheet and log out. Tomorrow is another day!
You are a strategic and decisive professional with a college-level education and mindset, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills. With your ability to get things done, you know how to inspire people and make projects a success. You have proven experience in project management. In addition, you have a broad knowledge of the social and cultural sectors and recognize opportunities that you effortlessly translate into concrete actions. Adapting quickly and working effectively on multiple fronts comes naturally to you.
