The role

As a Financial Controller, you serve as thefinancialconscienceofthe organization and a strong, independent partner for management and the executive board. You provide reliable management information and translate financial data into strategic insights that guide decision-making. Vivell works with grants and projects. We use the project module within AFAS. This requires a broad overview, financial depth, and the ability to understand various complex grant flows. You actively immerse yourself in our grants and projects and connect financial realities to social objectives.

You will report to the Operations Manager and supervise two staff members within the Finance department. This finance position is currently being filled on an interim basis by an interim Finance Manager. With this recruitment, we are taking the next step in the structural strengthening and future-proofing of the Finance department. Together, you will continue to build a professionally organized finance department. 

You operate in an environment where public funds, societal goals, and project accountability intersect. This requires analytical acumen, organizational sensitivity, and the ability to stay the course in a dynamic environment.

What will you be doing? 

Financial control & strategic accountability

  • Preparing and analyzing financial statements, financial reports, budgets, and forecasts
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
  • Assisting with interim and annual audits
  • Preparing cash flow forecasts and scenario analyses
  • Managing grant and contract records and providing accountability to funders

You ensure financial stability and make sure that financial data guides strategic decisions.

Project Management & Consulting

  • Actively engaging with projects and financial progress
  • Regular meetings with managers and team leaders to discuss budgets, progress, and feasibility
  • Evaluating proposals and projects for financial feasibility and risks
  • Identifying financial risks and opportunities and providing proactive advice on them
  • Serve as a substantive sparring partner for management and the executive board
  • Increasing financial awareness within the organization

You analyze anomalies and trends and translate them into concrete recommendations.

Process & System

  • Responsible for the optimal configuration and utilization of the project module within AFAS
  • Optimizing financial processes and internal controls
  • Contribute to the further professionalization of the finance department

You identify areas where processes can be made smarter, more efficient, or more transparent, and take the initiative to implement improvements. An external AFAS consultant is available to assist with technical system issues.

What do you bring to the table?

  • College or university level of work and thinking
  • Extensive, proven experience as a Financial Controller
  • Management experience
  • Experience within a grant-funded, social, or project-driven organization is preferred
  • Proficiency in AFAS
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Analytical skills and organizational awareness

What do we offer?

The position is classified in pay grade 11 of the Social Work Collective Bargaining Agreement (maximum €7,017 gross per month for a full-time 36-hour workweek). You will start with a one-year contract, with the intention of extending it if both parties are satisfied. In addition, you will benefit from attractive employment conditions, including a flexible spending account of 16.3% (including vacation pay), a career development fund, and a competitive pension plan in accordance with the Social Work Collective Bargaining Agreement.
