Do you want to help build a resilient society and strengthen collaboration and ownership within an organization that is transitioning to integrated local teams? Are you a strong, unifying leader with a passion for youth care and a belief in the power of preventive work? Do you thrive on the challenge of shaping integrated working practices within a complex organizational development process? If so, we’d love to hear from you!
The MENS Foundation plays a vital role in strengthening the social fabric within the municipality of De Bilt. From six locations, more than 90 professionals and 280 volunteers work daily to build a society where people look out for one another, have control over their lives, and where children grow up healthy and safe. Currently, MENS is organized into three teams: the Center for Youth and Family, the Social Team, and the Well-being and Prevention Team. Commissioned by the municipality, MENS is working toward a transformation goal of integrated access (from 0 to 100 years) and strong local teams that operate in an integrated, area-focused, and community-oriented manner, so that residents receive the right support more quickly, locally, and in a cohesive manner.
The De Bilt Center for Youth and Family (CJG) is part of MENS and provides advice and support to families on parenting and child development. The CJG also plays a central role in facilitating access to more specialized youth services. Close coordination and a comprehensive analysis are crucial to the effective execution of these tasks. In practice, this is guided by the principle of “One family, one plan, one coordinator.”
You are responsible for managing and professionalizing a team of 33 dedicated professionals. The team is committed and enthusiastic and consists of process coordinators, behavioral scientists, short-term support staff, and team support staff. You support and facilitate the team in fostering collaboration, professionalism, and a sense of ownership. Your coaching-style leadership provides both freedom and direction. You ensure a safe work environment.
In addition, together with the other Management Team members, you will guide the transition to integrated local teams and broad access. You ensure clear, mutual expectations and effective coordination with the municipality and partners. As an MT member, you actively contribute to organization-wide themes and the further professionalization of MENS as part of the transformation initiative. You easily switch between tactical and strategic levels and serve as a sparring partner for the executive director.
In doing so, you will help build an agile, resilient, and forward-thinking organization where policies are actually put into practice.
This position is challenging due to the rapidly evolving landscape in the social sector, including the Youth Reform Agenda and the Future Scenario for Child and Family Protection. This also means that, over time, your role will evolve as part of the transition toward integrated local teams.
You have a relevant master’s degree and leadership experience in the social sector. You have in-depth knowledge of the broader social services field and, specifically, youth care. You drive change in culture, content, and process, and engage professionals in this process. You have successfully guided teams through similar changes in the past. You are stepping into a transition where not everything has been fully defined or established yet. You bring calm and clarity to the situation and maintain energy and trust within the team through a flexible, sensitive approach. You provide room for maneuver within clear frameworks and strengthen self- and team-direction. At the same time, you adapt your approach and are decisive and effective when necessary.
You seamlessly switch between strategy and execution and stay focused on what really matters, using the challenge at hand as your starting point and keeping in mind the needs of residents and professionals. You think and act with the community in mind and, together with partners, drive local initiatives forward.
You are approachable to team members, fellow team leaders, and partners. In addition, you take a process-oriented approach, understand the importance of data and monitoring, can manage based on KPIs, and have a solid grasp of the business side of the work, such as budgets, finances, and relevant laws and regulations.
You communicate clearly and concisely, set clear boundaries, and are transparent about what works and what doesn’t. You also provide sharp analysis and investigate current issues. You motivate teams and support professionals in their professional growth. In addition, we are looking for a team leader who:
