As Program Coordinator for the Work & Activation department, you help people who are often left behind get back into the workforce by offering them meaningful work, opportunities for participation, and a sense of purpose. It’s a multifaceted role where you’ll lead employees, make a social impact, and develop yourself as a leader. Do you believe that work can make a difference, and do you want to help build an inclusive labor market? Then this might be the job for you!

About the Rainbow Group

The Rainbow Group supports Amsterdam residents in vulnerable situations. We do this in partnership with them and with hundreds of volunteers. Our projects and programs focus on connection, empowerment, recovery, and self-determination.

About the Work & Activation Department

The Work & Activation Department offers meaningful work for anyone who wants to get back into the workforce: Amsterdam residents, EU citizens, people experiencing homelessness, and newcomers. We offer work in small teams, with expert guidance and training: for example, in landscaping (at Tuinpark Lissabon), in a traditional craft workshop (at our bookbinding or sewing studio), in the hospitality industry (at our catering company Kluts!), or in a social enterprise such as the Buurtboerderij or Villa Buitenlust. We view work as part of a larger whole and actively seek collaboration with entrepreneurs, employers, and partners in the city. This ensures that people not only gain work experience but also rediscover connection, rhythm, and a sense of future prospects.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will be responsible for further developing the services offered by the Work & Activation program, in collaboration with colleagues, participants, and partners in the city. You will work directly with two other colleagues, one of whom is another Program Coordinator.

You:

  • manages job coaches and career coaches
  • develops and improves the range of employment programs so that they are well-suited to both participants and the labor market
  • promotes team development and collaboration
  • is developing additional job opportunities for specific target groups, such as EU citizens, asylum seekers granted refugee status, or young adults
  • maintains contact with municipalities, employers, and other partners
  • promotes collaboration, connection, and a positive work environment within the department and organization
  • works as a team with your fellow Program Coordinator
  • is responsible for achieving agreed-upon results and reports to the Work & Activation Manager

What do you bring to the table?

  • HBO-level academic ability
  • Management experience in a similar role or a clear desire to develop in a leadership role
  • Belief in the value of participation, reintegration, and employment for all
  • Knowledge of regulations regarding participation and reintegration, or a strong willingness to learn
  • Experience working with people who have a history of mental health issues, substance abuse, or (former) homelessness
  • A collaborative and inspiring way of working together
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to be clear, while also being flexible when necessary
  • The ability to set priorities; since the work is never finished, you need to be able to make choices and/or tolerate unfinished work
  • Excellent command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written
  • You think in terms of possibilities, are resourceful, and aren’t afraid to think outside the box

What do we offer?

  • A challenging job in a supportive, resourceful, and enthusiastic team
  • Training, education, and mentoring in leadership
  • You’ll have a lot of freedom to shape the role yourself in consultation with your immediate colleagues
  • A gross monthly salary between €4,000 and €5,294 (FWG 55, based on a 36-hour workweek), depending on experience and education, in accordance with the GGZ Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • 8.33% vacation pay and 8.33% year-end bonus
  • The opportunity to truly make a difference in people’s lives by offering them new perspectives and a meaningful workplace
