Coordinator, Digital Markets and Services Cluster
Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy / Directorate-General for Economy and Digitalization (DGE&D)
Do you want to contribute, in a results-oriented and inspiring environment, to a digital economy where consumers have freedom of choice and trust? And where companies compete on a level playing field, and doing business in the Netherlands is attractive? Will you help build a fair, transparent market for data, cloud, and AI? And will you ensure that online platforms used by the masses take the right responsibility for a fair and open market and work to combat illegal and harmful online content? As coordinator of the Digital Markets and Services cluster, you’ll play a prominent role in this.
In the Digital Markets and Services cluster, dedicated colleagues are working on the rules governing the digital economy. The rapid digitization of the economy and society, the influence of large technology companies, and the rapid development of AI present a significant challenge in this area. For example, the cluster is developing the Netherlands’ positions and negotiation strategy for EU negotiations on various pieces of EU legislation, such as the AI Act and the Data Act. With the introduction of various new regulations in the digital economy, the cluster will also focus in the coming years on the effective implementation of EU legislation and strengthening oversight in the digital economy. For example, work is currently underway on the implementation of the Digital Services Act (DSA) and the Data Governance Act (DGA) and on shaping the oversight framework for these in the Netherlands.
As a coordinator, you play a key role in ensuring that all activities within the cluster run smoothly and you contribute to team building in this recently established cluster. You also contribute directly to a number of cases within the cluster. You consult with your colleagues in the cluster on how to divide up daily tasks, keeping an eye on prioritization and workload. You also ensure effective knowledge development, sharing, and retention within the cluster. Additionally, you play a key role in onboarding and supporting new employees. When necessary, you serve as a sounding board for cases. Together with the management team member, you maintain an overview of the work and monitor the cluster’s strategy and planning.
Thanks to your strong analytical skills and ability to build connections, you are able to link topics and colleagues both within and outside the cluster. Together with the other cluster coordinators and the Management Team, you also establish connections between topics within the directorate and play a role in shaping its vision and strategy. You will also work closely with other directorates and ministries, the Permanent Representation in Brussels, regulators, the business community, knowledge institutions, and civil society organizations.
Are you a cluster coordinator helping to develop optimal rules for well-functioning digital markets and services in the Netherlands and the EU?
