“You create a place where everyone feels welcome and wants to come back.” The library is constantly evolving and offers a space for connection, growth, and inspiration. We are an open, accessible “third place”—a social environment alongside the most familiar settings of home (“first place”) and the workplace (“second place”)—in the midst of an increasingly digital society. Many of our branches are part of vibrant multifunctional centers (MFCs), where we collaborate with other organizations. We’re looking for an independent, energetic coordinator who can adapt, connect, and ensure that everything runs smoothly.
You will lead a dedicated team of staff and volunteers at the location. You will provide structure, offer guidance when needed, and ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly. You will foster collaboration, a sense of ownership, and an open work environment. Together, you will manage the logistical aspects of activities and regular operating hours.
You are the face of the branch and handle everything: from staffing and activities to administration and facility management. You spend about half your time working on the library floor: helping visitors, supporting colleagues, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. You identify opportunities for improvement and collaboration, maintain contacts with local partners, and contribute to a welcoming, attractive library that visitors love to visit. Depending on your employment contract, you’ll work a number of shifts per week on the library floor. You’ll help visitors, support colleagues, and foster a welcoming atmosphere. This allows you to stay closely connected to day-to-day operations and translate insights from the community back to your branch.
You start the morning by reviewing the schedule and coordinating with colleagues about the day’s activities. Then you welcome a new volunteer and consult with a local partner about an initiative in the community. In between, you assist visitors at the center, help colleagues with day-to-day questions, or resolve scheduling issues.
At the end of the day, you’ll discuss with your manager observations from daily operations, opportunities for new initiatives, and potential improvements at the branch.
You are welcoming, helpful, and full of energy. You work independently, enjoy getting things done, and switch easily between interacting with people and completing tasks. You have an eye for detail, but also for the bigger picture.
