What are we looking for in a department head?
We are looking for a department head who, together with an enthusiastic and dedicated team, will ensure that our students and colleagues get the most out of their educational experience.
You are able to adapt quickly and are deeply involved in the school, yet you maintain a clear overview. You have a solid understanding of the long-term vision of the department and the school, and you align your work and decisions with that vision. As a department head, you are a strong communicator, decisive, and skilled at building connections.
In this position, you will have the following duties and responsibilities:
- You will lead the staff in your department (first grade) and coach your team to bring out the best in themselves, the department, and, above all, the students;
- You will serve as the point of contact for the student coordinator, who is responsible for student affairs in your department;
- You will serve as the point of contact for several departments (matrix organization);
- You will oversee the ongoing development of the curriculum in close collaboration with the other department heads and actively contribute to educational development;
- You will serve as the lead coordinator and be responsible for the following areas of school policy: the Public Relations Committee, the Admissions Committee, and Quality Assurance. In this capacity, you will maintain contact with elementary schools in the region;
- You will work closely with the other department heads;
- You are responsible for maintaining the educational and instructional environment within the department;
- You are ultimately responsible for the students’ academic performance and development in your department, and you report on this to the Director of Education.
At Minkema College, we learn with and from one another. Your passion is to actively engage students in the classroom and guide them through their learning process. Together, we work to build a bright future for our students and our wonderful school.
