A colorful art installation featuring figures and objects in a historic church with white walls and Gothic windows.

Vleeshal is a center for contemporary art, located in Middelburg’s former historic town hall. This unique space is characterized by its distinctive Gothic architecture and has inspired many artists to create unique exhibitions. Under current director Roos Gortzak, artists such as Cally Spooner, Paul Maheke, Sandra Mujinga, and Vivian Suter have developed new works—specifically for the Vleeshal. Vleeshal also regularly ventures beyond the walls of its building and engages in collaborations at the local, national, and international levels. Through its experimental and innovative programming, Vleeshal has built a global reputation. Vleeshal operates in accordance with the Fair Practice Code, the Governance Code for Culture, and the Diversity & Inclusion Code.

  • Facilities, production, safety, IT: managing all support processes within and around the Vleeshal. This also includes the sustainability portfolio and the implementation and optimization of the digital infrastructure (including CRM);
  • Development: Work with the Executive Director to develop the development strategy.
