Greenpeace fights climate change and biodiversity loss around the world. To become more impactful, agile, and effective in a rapidly changing world, we are building a new organizational structure. For the Fundraising & Engagement department, we are looking for a people-oriented team leader who wants to play a pivotal role.
What will you be doing?
As Team Leader of Marketing, Acquisition & Loyalty (Individual Fundraising) within the Fundraising & Engagement department, you are the driving force behind the growth of our movement. You are responsible for the optimal deployment of people and resources within your team. You use data and results to drive smart campaigns and journeys that recruit new supporters and keep our base engaged. You provide operational and functional guidance to your team to ensure that recruitment and retention goals are achieved. You are the link between the organizational strategy and the day-to-day operations of our marketing and fundraising machine.
Your main responsibilities are:
- Focus on growth & impact: You manage the organization’s largest marketing and recruitment budget and translate it into measurable results. You guide your team toward concrete, long-term goals (recruitment and retention) and ensure that plans are translated into results. You maintain momentum and ensure a data-driven approach.
- Strategic Partnership: You serve as a sounding board for the Department Head. You ensure that the Department Head always has an up-to-date and accurate picture of the programs. You identify risks and opportunities early on; you don’t wait for problems to arise, but instead propose solutions and escalate issues when necessary. You proactively advise the Management Team on market developments, investment scenarios, and the long-term direction of our marketing and fundraising efforts.
- Coaching leadership: You build a motivated team that is driven to succeed. You create a culture that encourages experimentation and celebrates achievements. You have meaningful conversations about development and performance, and foster a safe environment where everyone takes ownership.
- Preventing silos: Your team isn’t an island. You ensure that your team works seamlessly with the campaign and content teams. You optimize processes and plans across departments so that supporters experience a single, cohesive narrative.
- Financial Management: You are operationally responsible for your team’s budget. You manage revenue and investments. You ensure that every dollar is used effectively to grow our membership base.
The department
The Fundraising & Engagement Department is the driving force behind Greenpeace’s impact. Here, we build the relationships that make our work possible and secure the resources needed to fund our mission.
- Strategy & Communications Team: This team sets the direction for our brand, target audience, and communications. It ensures that Greenpeace has a clear understanding of who our supporters are, how we reach them, and how we communicate clearly and consistently as an organization. This team also coordinates fundraising efforts with the Campaigns and Impact department.
- Content & Communications Team: This team brings Greenpeace’s stories to life. It translates campaigns and fundraising goals into compelling text, images, and videos for platforms such as social media, email, and the magazine. In this way, the team ensures that Greenpeace remains visible, relevant, and engaging.
- Marketing, Acquisition & Loyalty Team: This team focuses on attracting and retaining supporters and donors. It drives the growth of our supporter base and fosters strong, long-term engagement. Using marketing, data, and smart campaigns, this team is building a larger and stronger movement.
- Major Gifts Team: This team focuses on major gifts and bequests. It builds personal relationships with foundations, partners, and individual donors who wish to make a substantial contribution to Greenpeace’s mission through major gifts or bequests. Trust, a personalized approach, and long-term relationships are central to this work.
