We are looking for a Cluster Manager in Central Amsterdam who thinks strategically, provides clear direction, and—together with the team leaders—leads teams that make a difference in the neighborhood every day.

Your role as Cluster Manager

As a Cluster Manager, you will lead team leaders and, indirectly, social workers (child welfare workers, youth workers, and community workers), administrators, and volunteers within your cluster (Amsterdam Center). You will translate policy goals into concrete action, focus on quality, results, and innovation, and foster a culture of ownership and professional development.

Externally, you will participate in the alliance of core functions and other professional networks relevant to the assignment. You will be responsible for maintaining relationships with clients, striking and maintaining a good balance between professionalism and partnership with the municipality.

You:

  • Connects strategy and implementation in a complex urban context
  • Promotes team development and professional ownership through servant leadership
  • Focuses on social impact, quality, results, and a sound budget
  • Are you well-versed in business and finance?
  • Leads change processes and contributes to the ongoing development of DOCK
  • Builds lasting relationships with residents, partners, municipalities, and fellow organizations
  • Closely monitors developments in the social sector and translates them into policy and practice

Who are you?

You are an experienced, people-oriented, strategic leader with a keen eye for opportunities and quality. You know how to get people on board with initiatives and build bridges—including between policy, clients, politics, implementation, and the lives of residents.

You will bring:

  • HBO-level education and thinking skills, preferably in social work, public administration, or management
  • Management experience in the social or public sector
  • Experience in facilitating organizational development or change processes
  • Is able to quickly and accurately identify external relationships and navigate them diplomatically and strategically.
  • Committed to diversity and inclusion, both within the organization and in our projects, as well as toward the residents.
  • Financial insight and experience in managing based on performance indicators
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of current policy developments in the social sector and urban issues
  • An inspiring vision of future-proof, preventive, and inclusive social work
