A family that knows its rights thanks to your explanation. A daughter who feels confident enough to exercise her right to speak at a hearing. Or a father who understands how to apply for compensation. Do you want to use your legal knowledge and professional experience to make a real difference in society? Then join us today as a volunteer with the legal services team at Victim Support Netherlands.
Give people hope and direction through your commitment.
After a crime, accident, or other traumatic event, people often find themselves overwhelmed by emotions and legal issues. That’s when you’re there to help them. With your legal expertise and clear explanations, you make complex processes easy to understand, such as compensation claims, the right to be heard, or protective measures. You provide support in drafting important documents and give people the tools they need to take action in what is often a confusing situation.
Your role goes beyond just providing legal assistance. You offer peace of mind and clarity, helping victims feel supported as they look to the future. Whether you’re resolving complex legal issues or simply letting someone know they’re not alone, your work makes a difference.
Your work makes a difference in society. You help others and point the way toward justice and healing. That’s incredibly rewarding. Of course, we at Victim Support Netherlands are here to support you every step of the way. With:
At Victim Support Netherlands, we support people every day who have been affected by a crime, a traffic accident, a disaster, or another traumatic event. We offer emotional support, practical assistance, and legal guidance. Always with a personal and compassionate approach. As an employee, you are part of a professional and people-centered organization. Here, teamwork, meaningful work, and social impact are central. Together, we are building a safer and more just society.
As an employer, Victim Support Netherlands strives for proportional representation in terms of knowledge, experience, age, gender, and background.
When you start working with us, we’ll ask you to apply for a Certificate of Good Conduct. We’ll handle the application, and you can submit the costs for reimbursement.
You’ll start the job well-prepared. Before you begin, you’ll complete a comprehensive training program—both in-person and online—totaling 36 hours. During this program, you’ll learn, among other things, how to communicate with victims. The training is tailored to your experience and knowledge level; no specific prior education is required.
You’ll receive ongoing guidance from experienced colleagues—your mentors. They’re there to support you. For example, when you call a victim for the first time.
You’ll be working in a team of volunteers and paid staff—colleagues you can always count on.
You’ll have plenty of opportunities to develop your skills. At our own Victim Support Academy, we offer a variety of training courses and workshops—ranging from communication techniques to victims’ rights—at all levels, from beginner to advanced.
