Drawing on the city’s history and identity, Rotterdam is working on its current development and transition challenges under the motto “city of change.” The city government seeks advice from the independent Commission on Environmental Quality and Cultural Heritage (hereinafter: the O+CE Commission) regarding the architectural and spatial quality of major plans in the city.
The Rotterdam approach emphasizes an integrated strategy and preliminary consultation during the early planning stages. In its advisory work, the O+CE Committee focuses on the interrelationship between architecture, heritage, urban planning, and landscape. The atmosphere and culture within the committee are geared toward fostering an inspiring and open dialogue.
Are you a bridge-builder with strong interpersonal skills who embodies and reinforces this culture? Do you have proven experience at the intersection of urban planning and public administration? Do you find energy in the complex dynamics of the spatial challenges we’re working on, and do you share our fascination with Rotterdam? Does the task challenge you to work with city government and Urban Development to help the O+CE committee contribute to how Rotterdam lives up to its motto, “city of change”? If so, we look forward to receiving your application for the position of committee chair!
