Moving Forward with a Brain Injury

It can happen to anyone. A stroke, an accident, a tumor—and the life you knew is suddenly turned upside down.

The people InteraktContour guides and supports were not born with their condition. They are ordinary people leading ordinary lives. They might be a teacher or a truck driver, a professor or an entrepreneur. Young or old, well-off or barely making ends meet. What unites them is what happened to them: acquired brain injury (ABI) and the challenge of continuing to live with its consequences.

InteraktContour is a leader in serving adults with acquired brain injury. Through treatment, support, and care, it strives to help them lead lives that are as fulfilling and independent as possible.

InteraktContour is looking for a new member to join its supervisory board , who will also serve as chair of the audit committee. It’s a great opportunity; read on to find out why.

About InteraktContour

InteraktContour is the leading specialized care provider for adults with acquired brain injury (ABI) in the chronic phase, offering treatment, support, and care. Together with them, their loved ones, and their support network, InteraktContour strives—guided by the motto “Anything is possible”—to help them lead lives that are as fulfilling and independent as possible. The organization applies its expertise, continues to develop it, and shares it both internally and with others. People with acquired brain injury (ABI), their loved ones, and their support networks recognize the organization as an ABI expert. More than 700 clients live at InteraktContour; over 3,700 people participate in day programs or receive individual support, and nearly 400 receive treatment. The organization operates in five provinces, primarily in the central and eastern parts of the country, with approximately 1,600 employees.

In the discussions over the past few weeks with the executive board, the supervisory board, the works council, and the central client council, one thing stood out time and again: a strong commitment to doing right by the clients. That inspires enthusiasm—for the people at InteraktContour, for this organization, and for the important work being done here.

The assignment

InteraktContour is entering a period of significant change: in the demand for care, in the way care is organized, and in the requirements placed on operational management. The goal is to support the client and employee experience as effectively as possible. The organization is evolving toward a regional model comprising four regions and a national center of expertise for acquired brain injury (ABI). The service organization is being restructured. In addition, a real estate strategy will need to support the organization’s care-related ambitions: housing as a prerequisite for quality care, with significant long-term financial implications. This is accompanied by a digital acceleration, in which AI and data-driven work will play a greater role. And all of this is taking place against the backdrop of a tight labor market and a changing funding landscape for long-term care.

The supervisory board is therefore seeking a new member, who will also serve as chair of the audit committee.

Who we're looking for

Someone with experience at a senior management level, preferably gained outside the healthcare sector: in the business world, in a dynamic public sector environment, or in a capital-intensive social enterprise, such as a housing authority. An outside perspective can enrich the board. Knowledge of and an affinity for the healthcare system and the long-term care financing system are desirable. In addition: a solid financial foundation at the executive level, strategic insight into financial and economic management, and the ability to assess accountants and controllers objectively without delving into the operational details. A RA or RC designation may be a plus; what matters is the managerial level, not the title. Equally important: a sound understanding of real estate in the context of a healthcare organization, as well as of IT, information security, data, and digitization, including AI. An understanding of the complex environment in which a healthcare organization operates. Previous experience as a supervisor or as a committee chair is a plus, not a requirement; the ability to effectively chair the audit committee carries significant weight.

And above all: someone who aligns with InteraktContour’s approach to supervision—dialogue-oriented, reflective, and fostering space. Someone who doesn’t simply follow the PDCA cycle blindly, but thinks strategically, is critical, and remains constructive. Professional yet compassionate, guided by the philosophy that “Anything is possible.” With humor, self-reflection, and compassion for the target group: if you feel uncomfortable interacting with people with acquired brain injury (ABI) and their loved ones, this isn’t the right place for you.

Diversity

Candidates who bring a different perspective to the board are warmly welcome: younger individuals, those from different cultural backgrounds, those from other sectors, or those with different viewpoints. Quality remains the guiding principle; diversity is an important added value.

Practical

  • Effective January 1, 2027.
  • Four years, renewable once.
  • Four plenary meetings per year (with the possibility of a fifth), supplemented by committee work.
  • Salary in accordance with the WNT: €19,280 per year (2026).
  • The candidate to be appointed will be required to provide a Certificate of Good Conduct.
