ADJ is seeking an innovative supervisor with expertise in education for the VierTaal Foundation. Can you adapt easily to a rapidly changing field? Do you embrace VierTaal’s inclusive vision? Would you like to apply your expertise in a supervisory role, and are you comfortable working at the administrative level? If so, read on!
The VierTaal Foundation provides education and support to more than 2,300 students who are hard of hearing or have a language development disorder (LDD). VierTaal is on the cusp of a fundamental transition. Society is calling for inclusive education in which students with communication challenges participate as much as possible in mainstream education, close to home. This poses a fundamental question for VierTaal: How does a specialized school transform itself into a center of expertise that sustainably strengthens mainstream education? This transition touches on the very essence of what good education means for these students. How do you ensure educational quality as expertise is increasingly provided on an outpatient basis?
At the same time, VierTaal is evolving from an institution-focused organization into a network-based organization. Collaboration with school boards, consortia, municipalities, and national partners such as Siméa is becoming increasingly crucial. The organization is at the beginning of this transition and is aware of the challenges it entails.
VierTaal’s supervisory board consists of five members and works closely with the two-member executive board. The board oversees VierTaal’s operations in accordance with its social mission: to enable students with communication disabilities to participate in education and society as inclusively as possible. In addition, the supervisory board serves as the employer of the executive board members and acts as a sounding board.
For the education and inclusion portfolio, we are seeking a supervisor who will critically and constructively challenge the board on the substantive direction: What strategic choices are we making in the transition to inclusive education? How do we know we’re doing what’s best for our students, and what do we mean by high-quality education? What does the shift from a school to a center of expertise mean for the quality of education and support? And how do you shape that transition in a responsible and widely supported manner? In addition, you are able to draw on your expertise to serve as a sparring partner for the board.
VierTaal is looking for a supervisor with extensive experience in education and knowledge of the transition to inclusive education. Someone who understands the realities of daily educational practice and who can hold the board accountable on issues of content, direction, and quality.
For example, you may have gained your experience at a center of expertise, at an educational consulting firm, as a director or administrator in the field of education, or as a senior researcher in an academic setting*.
In addition to your professional experience, as a supervisor you possess the following competencies:
The Supervisory Board aims to ensure that its composition better reflects the student body and parents of VierTaal. Candidates with a bicultural background or those who have firsthand experience with TOS/SH are also warmly invited to apply.
The VierTaal Foundation provides education and support to students with a language development disorder and hearing impairment (“cluster 2”). At twelve (secondary) special education schools and four outreach services in North Holland, Almere, and The Hague, there is close collaboration to provide education and support in a setting that is as inclusive as possible. VierTaal is known as a pleasant and accessible organization that places a high priority on being a good employer. As a public foundation, VierTaal is committed to diversity and equal opportunities.
The supervisory board consists of five members: Robert Zaal (chairman as of August 1, 2026), Wanneke Sabatino, Hay Vullinghs, Henk Kelderhuis, and the vacant position. Due to a recent change in the board’s composition, the portfolios have yet to be reassigned.
VierTaal works with the ADJ agency for recruitment and selection. Reference checks and verification of academic credentials are part of this process. You can apply via the application form on the ADJ website.
We look forwardto receivingyour application, including a cover letter and resume, as soon as possible, butno later than August 9. We will be conducting interviews before and during the summer vacation.
