About us

Since 1985, the Boulevard Theater Festival has been one of the Netherlands’ leading international performing arts festivals. For eleven days, it transforms the city center of 's-Hertogenbosch into a stage for theater, dance, music, and performance—ranging from large-scale site-specific productions to intimate installations.

The Bosse Nova Foundation is the cultural organization, production, and consulting agency that keeps the core team running year-round. Bosse Nova supports artists, companies, and festivals and manages Pand 18: a workspace for cultural organizations in 's-Hertogenbosch. Both foundations are led by a two-person executive board.

What are we looking for?

A chairperson who:

• has extensive experience as a supervisor and/or director in socially relevant organizations;
  
• has a strategic understanding of the dynamics of an organization in transition and contributes ideas about its future;
  
• plays a leading and unifying role within the Supervisory Board and ensures effective cooperation among its members and with the executive directors;
  
• serves as the primary point of contact for the executive directors and members of the Supervisory Board and keeps them informed of developments;
  
• has a relevant and diverse network and is willing to leverage it.
  
• is able to maintain good relationships with various stakeholders;
  
• has a good understanding of social and political dynamics;
  
• someone with a people-oriented personality, strong communication skills, and enough time to devote to this role.

• You are committed to the work, offer constructive criticism, and enjoy collaborating with others.
  
• You recognize the importance of diversity and inclusion in the cultural sector.
  
• You have a connection to 's-Hertogenbosch or the surrounding region, or can demonstrate that you do.
  
• You'll be attending the festival in August and following Bosse Nova's activities with interest.

We do ask a lot of you, but we also have a lot to offer: a responsible and meaningful role within one of the Netherlands’ leading, pioneering international performing arts festivals, which is constantly evolving both in terms of content and organization. As a member of the Supervisory Board, you will contribute directly to this.

Practical

The Supervisory Board meets approximately four times a year, preferably in person. Outside of these meetings, members occasionally serve as a sounding board for the executive directors. Members are appointed for a three-year term, with the possibility of one reappointment. The position is unpaid; expenses may be reimbursed.

We strive to create a complementary Board of Trustees, in which members from diverse backgrounds contribute their knowledge and experience and hold each other—as well as the executive directors—accountable. Together, guided by the Code of Cultural Governance, we serve both foundations.
