Philzuid holds a unique position in the Dutch music scene. In September 2033, we will celebrate our 20th anniversary—a festive occasion that symbolizes two decades of artistic innovation, social engagement, and connection with a broad and diverse audience. As the leading symphony orchestra of the South, Philzuid is firmly rooted in Limburg, North Brabant, and Zeeland. We are an orchestra of and for everyone—an orchestra that moves, connects, and surprises people, both inside and outside concert halls, live and online.
Our mission as we look toward 2035 is clear:
We are an orchestra by and for everyone. Based in Eindhoven and Maastricht, we connect with residents of the southern Netherlands and beyond through engaging programs and innovative presentation formats. We create unforgettable moments of joy for everyone.
Philzuid’s core values—innovate, connect, and surprise—guide everything we do. They are reflected in the four strategic dimensions of the Philzuid Happiness Model: Maker, focused on craftsmanship and quality; People, focused on development and recruitment; Market, focused on reputation and connection; and Resources, focused on funding and continuity. Philzuid adheres to the Cultural Governance Code, the Fair Practice Code, and the Diversity and Inclusion Code.
The Supervisory Board exercises comprehensive oversight of the managing director’s policies and the general course of business at Philzuid. The Board also serves as a sounding board, advises the Executive Director, and acts as the employer. The Board monitors the orchestra’s strategic direction and identity, ensures good governance, a healthy organizational culture, and social impact, and contributes to an inspiring connection between art, the public, and society.
Now that the current chair is stepping down after serving two terms, Philzuid is seeking an experienced chair for the Board of Trustees. The new chair will be a natural connector, a strategic thinker, and an inspiring partner for the executive director, the members of the Board, and the orchestra’s external stakeholders.
The new chairperson should ideally be a well-rounded individual who, together with the other members of the Board, maintains a balance between artistic ambition, entrepreneurship, and social impact.
