Pakhuis de Zwijger has a Board of Trustees that not only oversees the organization but also feels a shared responsibility for its future and operates on the basis of trust, expertise, and compassion. We are seeking a chairperson who embodies this vision: someone who, through both solicited and unsolicited advice, contributes to an open, just, and sustainable future for this unique institution.
Pakhuis de Zwijger is literally and figuratively at the heart of society. Our beautiful location on the IJ River is situated in the heart of Amsterdam. Pakhuis de Zwijger is a place for connection, dialogue, inspiration, and creation. Our ultimate goal is to make society and the world a little better and more beautiful every day. This is desperately needed and can only be achieved together. After nearly twenty years of building and programming as an independent platform for social dialogue, Pakhuis de Zwijger is on the cusp of a new phase. We have a solid foundation, a strong cultural profile, and significant social relevance. Now is the time to build on this stable foundation to strengthen our impact and anchor a new culture for the future.
The new chairperson is independent and fully aware of the new phase Pakhuis de Zwijger is entering. This is not merely an honorary position, but an active, unifying role that requires vision, integrity, and an awareness of the surrounding environment. The chairperson understands that cultural change does not happen on paper, but through behavior, dialogue, and leading by example.
For the role of chair, we are looking for someone whose background complements that of the current Supervisory Board. The following criteria are therefore desirable, and we also strongly encourage women and non-binary individuals to apply:
The ideal candidate is an experienced director and supervisor with a mix of experience in media, PR, and marketing communications, preferably with an international focus and experience in international collaboration, both within Europe and beyond. Experience as a supervisor and in leadership roles, with an affinity for governance as a core quality. The candidate is sensitive, reflective, and collaboration-oriented, and resonates with the values and mission of Pakhuis de Zwijger. The candidate also has a broad perspective that extends beyond the Randstad.
The Supervisory Board meets with the Executive Director an average of five times a year, with the Audit Committee twice a year, and also holds one or two internal meetings. Members serve on one or more committees (such as the Finance or Compensation Committee) and may occasionally be called upon to assist with strategic matters.
The position is unpaid, in accordance with the Cultural Governance Code; reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
Do you see yourself as a dedicated board member who wants to contribute to the organization’s strategic and operational direction? Apply by Wednesday, January 14, 2026, via Homerun and submit your cover letter and resume. For more information, please contact Lars Boering (Chair of the Supervisory Board) at rvt@dezwijger.nl.
