Chair of the Supervisory Board

The Musis & Stadstheater Arnhem Foundation is the premier venue for the performing arts and the cultural heart of Arnhem. With its four auditoriums, Musis & Stadstheater Arnhem promotes business growth, socio-cultural development, and the quality of life in Arnhem. Its reach extends regionally, beyond the region, and nationwide, featuring concerts and performances that are sometimes staged at only a few venues across the Netherlands.

We are seeking aChair of the Supervisory Board for this exceptional organization.

With a deep understanding of the region, a down-to-earth demeanor, and a network of international caliber. In short, a chairperson who is a perfect fit for Musis & Stadstheater Arnhem.

About Musis & Arnhem City Theater

The Musis & Stadstheater Arnhem Foundation is the home of the performing arts and the cultural heart of Arnhem. We are a driving force for culture in Arnhem and the surrounding area. Every year, 180,000 guests visit us, and we host around 600 concerts, performances, and events. We offer classical music, theater, pop, dance, cabaret, variety shows, and dance performances. We also provide space for educational and social projects. Musis is also the premier venue for conferences, corporate events, and gatherings. The Stadstheater has been closed since fall 2023 for extensive renovations. In the coming years, we will therefore be programming extensively at Musis as well as at other venues throughout the city.

The Musis & Stadstheater Arnhem Foundation plays a vital role as a cornerstone of Arnhem’s cultural landscape. Research shows that Arnhem stands out because its creative and cultural sectors are experiencing above-average growth and are strong across the entire spectrum of the sector. The Musis & Stadstheater Arnhem Foundation contributes significantly to this cultural profile, the diversity, and the above-average growth of the cultural sector. In this way, the Musis & Stadstheater Arnhem Foundation connects with the city, the region, and the country, and stimulates the business climate, socio-cultural development, and quality of life in Arnhem.

The Supervisory Board

The Supervisory Board consists of six independent and knowledgeable individuals who oversee the management’s policies and the general affairs of the organization. We strive for a diverse and inclusive Supervisory Board in which individuals with different backgrounds are represented, reflecting administrative, political, financial, entrepreneurial, cultural, and legal backgrounds. In addition, we strive for a balanced and diverse composition in terms of age, culture, ethnicity, gender, and religion.

The members of the Supervisory Board share collective responsibility and have specific portfolios: chair, audit committee, or compensation committee. The Supervisory Board meets at least six times a year, and the chair attends key events. The Supervisory Board evaluates its own performance at least once a year during a closed-door meeting. Once every three years, this meeting takes place under external guidance. Members of the Supervisory Board are appointed for a term of no more than four years, with a one-time option for reappointment for a second term. In accordance with the provisions of the retirement schedule, the Supervisory Board is seeking a new chairperson effective August 1, 2024.
