The Organization 

The Netherlands Film Fund is the leading cultural fund for Dutch film. The Fund focuses on the professional, independent film sector and provides financial support for the development, production, and distribution of film projects in a wide variety of formats, ranging from new talent to highly experienced filmmakers. In addition, the Fund supports film-related activities such as festivals, film gatherings, film education hubs, research, and training. We do this in the Netherlands, but also abroad.  

The Supervisory Board 

The Supervisory Board oversees the overall operations of the Film Fund from an independent position. The Board acts as the employer of the Executive Director and provides the Board of Directors with advice and guidance as needed.
The Supervisory Board also plays a monitoring role in ensuring that the organization’s objectives are met and oversees its financial position.  

The Supervisory Board consists of seven members, including the chair, and is composed in such a way as to ensure that all necessary expertise is represented. The term of office for members is four years, with the possibility of a single reappointment for four years. The chairperson and members of the Board of Trustees are appointed by the Minister of Education, Culture, and Science upon the recommendation of the Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees and the Executive Board adhere to the Governance Code for Culture in their work. The Board of Trustees meets four times a year. Members receive an attendance allowance and reimbursement for travel expenses. 

We are looking for a chairperson: 

• with demonstrable knowledge of cultural policy in general and of the film and audiovisual sector in particular; 
  
• demonstrable experience as a director or supervisor (required);
  
• with extensive political, administrative, and social experience and a broad political and administrative network;
  
• who has no involvement with or interest in organizations or projects subsidized by the Film Fund; 
  
• who has sufficient time to perform his or her duties effectively; 
  
• who possesses strong leadership skills, a keen sense of social awareness, and conflict-resolution qualities and skills, drawing in part on experience gained elsewhere; 
  
• who has a “good fit” with the organization and management based on mutual trust and respect;

The Film Fund values a Board of Trustees that performs its duties with a critical eye and integrity, maintains an independent stance, and is diverse in terms of age, background, professional experience, and gender. Candidates who can contribute to these goals are warmly invited to apply.
