The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) is working to ensure a healthy, fit, and resilient Netherlands. We do this by promoting a healthy lifestyle, regular physical activity, and good nutrition. We operate in a complex and rapidly changing environment and conduct our work with care and integrity.
The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) is launching a temporary, external, independent integrity committee, in anticipation of the formation of a government-wide committee. This new temporary joint committee will consist of a chairperson, a member representing the employer, and a member nominated by the labor unions.
The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport is seeking individuals with authority, stature, and a strong reputation to take on this role.
The committee is tasked with assessing reports to determine whether they warrant investigation and then conducting or commissioning a proper and thorough investigation. This includes:
The committee may also, if a whistleblower demonstrates that there are integrity issues directly related to the work—such as an acute social injustice, serious pressure or serious inappropriate treatment and inappropriate behavior that cannot be delayed, take immediate action by contacting the highest-ranking official within the ministry, the Secretary-General, to ensure the safety and well-being of the whistleblower.
This committee is specifically intended to help enhance social safety within the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) and to provide “standard-setting” advice on reports related to social safety. This is intended to supplement the existing reporting structure. The committee will be established for a maximum term of two years. The committee operates completely independently of the ministry and is supported by an external secretariat provided by the CAOP.
The establishment of this temporary external committee involved close consultation with the labor unions and input from the departmental works council (DOR). That input will also be reflected in the selection process.
The expected time commitment for the chair and the members is one day per week. Both the chair and the members will receive a fixed allowance based on pay scale 18.
