We are seeking a chairperson and a member for the Supervisory Board of the Amstelland General Practitioners’ Association (SHA). We are looking for an experienced chairperson and a new member with a background in business administration.
Developments
SHA has recently transitioned to a new governance model featuring a Supervisory Board. The new board, which currently consists of three members, is composed of two members appointed upon the recommendation of the Amstelland General Practitioners Cooperative (HCA) and one member appointed upon the recommendation of the SHA Client Council. The positions of chairperson and a member with a business administration background are currently vacant. SHA is an organization in development. In the coming years, close partnerships with various stakeholders will be further deepened. Closer collaboration with many new parties will take place, also with a view to the planned emergency care center. This brings a great deal of dynamism and requires the necessary commitment from the Supervisory Board. The new Board of Trustees is poised to develop into a supervisory body that can support the Executive Board with advice and strategic insight. The goal is to provide future-proof, high-quality emergency care in a dynamic environment.
Profile characteristics of the chairperson
You have gained administrative experience in a complex environment and, thanks to your natural authority, are able to bring calm to the group; preferably, you have legal knowledge regarding governance or a legal background. In addition, you have experience as a chairperson and a solid understanding of governance. You are skilled at building collaborative relationships and are attuned to group dynamics. You have experience with team development and know how to help individual board members contribute effectively, and you leverage differing perspectives to improve decision-making. In other words, you possess leadership qualities such as the ability to remain impartial, active listening skills, the ability to guide the meeting toward decision-making, the ability to summarize clearly, the ability to create an open atmosphere, and the ability to encourage others to speak and reflect. You are well-versed in organizational processes and quickly recognize situations that require attention.
You also have a reflective mindset and are able to give and receive effective feedback. You possess coaching skills that you can use to collaborate with the director and to build and develop the new board. In addition, you can represent the organization internally and externally as needed.

Profile characteristics of a member with a background in business administration
With your background in business administration and your entrepreneurial spirit, you are a valuable asset to the team, which currently consists mainly of members with a healthcare background. You have experience with mergers and strategic alliances, and from a supervisory position, you know how to ask the right questions and contribute ideas regarding future developments. Your broad perspective on finance and business operations, combined with your intrinsic motivation to contribute to high-quality primary care, makes you an ideal sparring partner for the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board. You also have a broad network. In this role, you will also serve as a member of the audit committee.

Profile of the Supervisory Board as a whole
The Supervisory Board as a whole is composed in such a way that:
- there is sufficient affinity with the healthcare sector in general and the Foundation’s social mission in particular;
- broad social ties and a functional network are established;
- there is a range of social backgrounds, areas of expertise, and diversity in terms of gender, age, regional ties, and disciplines, including, for example, backgrounds in healthcare, finance and economics, social sciences, and business administration;
- the members of the Supervisory Board act independently and critically toward one another and toward the Board of Directors;
- adequate provision is made for the advisory and sounding-board role for the board of directors.
Members of the Supervisory Board are expected to continue to stay informed about developments in the healthcare sector in general and the Foundation’s healthcare role in particular.
Mission and Vision
The SHA’s primary mission is to operate the Amstelland General Practice Clinic. As part of this mission, the SHA provides urgent general practice care during evening, night, and weekend hours (ANW) and on official holidays. The care services are delivered based on the following vision: to provide high-quality urgent general practice care with a patient-centered approach.
The SHA focuses on strengthening acute primary care, improving collaboration within the urgent care center, and optimizing coordination and cooperation with acute care partners.
