The Anne-Bo Foundation (www.stichtinganne-bo.nl ) strives to promote equal opportunities for young women who have dreams but don’t always know how to pursue them, or lack the network needed to make those dreams a reality and achieve their goals. Through scholarships and personalized guidance for students, the Anne-Bo Foundation helps young women pursue higher education at community colleges and universities.
As of December 2023, the Anne-Bo Foundation has matched 140 students (representing approximately 25 nationalities) with 140 mentors, and on average, 15 new students are joining each month.
As the Anne-Bo Foundation grows rapidly, so do its responsibilities; new challenges and tasks are constantly emerging, creating a need for a board member who can serve as a sounding board for the founder and director of the Anne-Bo Foundation, Annemieke van de Wouw—Anne-Bo’s mother—and who possesses in-depth knowledge of the nonprofit sector and foundations. The board chair leads board meetings, takes the initiative, coordinates and carries out board activities, and is familiar with the bicultural landscape. Preferably, the chair also has a background in HR and the topic of equal opportunity, with all that this entails.
There are 3 or 4 board meetings per year, and the organization operates completely independently. We are therefore looking for someone who is more inclined to contribute than to micromanage, who can offer advice both from a distance and up close, and who is willing to actively engage their network to help advance the mission and vision of the Anne-Bo Foundation: equal opportunities for every female student.
The Anne-bo Foundation is committed to an inclusive society, and the organization should reflect that diversity; therefore, we strongly encourage candidates from bicultural backgrounds to apply.
