Make a difference in inclusive education—become vice chair

The Education Disputes Foundation works every day to ensure fair and thorough dispute resolution in the education sector. We are seeking passionate and authoritative vice-chairs for two key committees:

  • the Dispute Resolution Committee for Special Education (GPO)
  • the National Appeals Advisory Committee on Certificates of Admissibility (LBT)

About the committees

The GPO is a statutory commission that resolves disputes between parents, students, and school boards regarding appropriate education. Each year, the commission reviews approximately 180 cases, with a focus on both thoroughness and efficiency.

The LBT provides advice on appeals against decisions made by school consortia regarding the declaration of admissibility (tlv). These are decisions made under the General Administrative Law Act (Awb) against which parents and school boards may file an appeal. The committee handles approximately 60 to 70 appeals each year.

Who are we looking for?

You are an expert and independent professional with authority who can get to the bottom of complex issues and is not afraid to explore fair solutions. Among other things, you possess:

  • An affinity for the education sector and knowledge of how schools and educational institutions are organized;
  • Experience with dispute resolution or conflict management;
  • Legal knowledge and analytical skills at the master’s level, preferably in education law, juvenile law, and/or administrative law;
  • Legal courage: the ability to find fair, and sometimes innovative, solutions within the bounds of the law;
  • A keen eye for diversity and inclusion and their role in decision-making;
  • Strong courtroom skills, preferably gained within the judiciary.

Interested?

You can find more information about the committees here:

For both committees, the vice-chair is nominated following a selection process. For the Special Education Disputes Committee, the advocacy groups Balans, Iederin, Ouders&Onderwijs, PO-Raad, and VO-raad play a leading role in this process.

Are you ready to use your expertise to help create a fair and appropriate education system? We’d love to meet you!

Please send your application, including a cover letter and resume, to:
