More about this organization
Children wearing orange vests with the number 2 on them are sitting on the grass, watching the children and sheep playing in the pasture.

As a unit manager, you are responsible for your locations from start to finish. This includes ensuring the children’s happiness and development in collaboration with your teams, fostering a positive work environment for your staff, and, of course, maintaining sound financial management.

For our locations in The Hague’s Schilderswijk and city center, we are looking for a Unit Manager with a strong commitment to the community. In this role, you will be responsible for your locations from start to finish. This includes ensuring the children’s happiness and development in collaboration with your teams, fostering a positive work environment for your staff, and, of course, maintaining sound financial management. You will also serve as a key ambassador for 2Samen within your neighborhoods.

Our social mission

As a community-based childcare organization, 2Samen believes in equal opportunities—including opportunities for development—for all children, both within our centers and beyond. We are committed to ensuring every child has a promising start in every neighborhood. We achieve this, in part, through our neighborhood-focused approach. Our goal is for our locations to become part of the community network and for 2Samen to best meet the needs of the neighborhood. That is why we collaborate with all kinds of local organizations, such as libraries, community centers, and local businesses. As a Unit Manager, you play a key role in this. Curious to learn more about the neighborhood approach? Then read our ZINvol section.

What will you be doing as a Unit Manager?

In addition to your role in the neighborhood, you are, of course, primarily responsible for your locations. At your three multicultural locations, you have dedicated coordinators and warm, welcoming teams who work together with a great sense of humor. Together, you ensure that you excel in the field of early childhood education. There is a pleasant working relationship with the schools. As a Unit Manager, you are not afraid to adapt quickly and make decisions. Moreover, the best care for children comes from employees who are empowered. You are proactive, decisive, and appreciative, and you see it as a challenge to support employees in developing their talents. You also have an eye for group dynamics and work processes.

And why do you want to do that at 2Samen?

2Samen is a warm and informal organization with short lines of communication. We are a learning organization and are constantly striving to improve. For example, by providing customized services and always trying new things. If something doesn’t work out? Then we’ll try something different next time! This fundamental approach gives you the opportunity to continually apply and develop your knowledge and experience. We value you for your talents and simply for who you are. Moreover, with 900 employees and 70 locations in The Hague, Naaldwijk, and Monster, we are the largest professional childcare provider in the region. That, too, creates opportunities for great initiatives!

Practical information: what do you get from us?

  • A competitive salary in accordance with the Childcare Collective Bargaining Agreement; pay scale 10, with a potential increase to scale 11. (As of January, this amounts to €3,670–€5,569 for a full-time position of 36 hours per week).
  • You can choose between full public transportation reimbursement or a mileage allowance.
  • 2Samen invests in your development through “Talent-thinking” and our development academy.
  • Are we a good fit? If so, there’s a chance for a permanent contract.

And what do we expect from you?

  • HBO-level academic and intellectual ability
  • A firm yet supportive leadership style
  • Excellent social and communication skills
  • A positive, open-minded attitude
  • Decisiveness and drive
  • Ideally, you have experience in childcare
