The Sustainable The Hague Foundation serves as the city’s driving force in the area of resident participation in sustainability. We empower residents to take action toward sustainability by informing, engaging, supporting, and connecting residents and initiatives in the areas of energy, green spaces, food, circularity, and mobility.
The guiding principle here is that every resident should be able to contribute to the best of their ability. Our mission is focused on a just energy transition and the greening of urbanized neighborhoods. In doing so, we are working to realize the city government’s ambitions for a climate-neutral and resilient city.
The Hague Climate Fund supports local nonprofit organizations in reducing CO2 emissions by providing financial contributions for projects such as solar panels, energy storage, and more. The City of The Hague contributes funds to the initiative as compensation for unavoidable CO2 emissions from energy use.
The supervisory boards of both foundations have the same composition.
