The organization
With a history of serving as the center of expertise on sexuality in the Netherlands for over 50 years, Rutgers has now become an international organization playing a leading role in this field. Rutgers has 115 staff members working on sexual health and rights, both in the Netherlands and in more than 25 countries worldwide. By combining research, program implementation, and advocacy—and in collaboration with international partners—Rutgers works to improve sexual rights, access to sexuality education and information, access to contraception and safe abortion, and the prevention of sexual violence.
Rutgers is the Dutch member of IPPF, the International Planned Parenthood Federation. Over the past few years, Rutgers has grown both financially and as an organization. The multi-year national and international programs, funded by the Dutch ministries of Education, Health, and Foreign Affairs, the European Commission, and foundations, are of high quality. In these programs, Rutgers also acts as a subgranting organization to our partners. Rutgers works with over 50 partners in our program countries and in the Netherlands to achieve our goals and strategy. More information about Rutgers’ programs can be foundon the Rutgers website.
