PCBO Amersfoort is seeking two members for its Board of Trustees: one with a background in education and one with a background in finance. The Amersfoort Protestant Christian Primary Education Foundation (PCBO Amersfoort) challenges children to develop in a well-rounded and optimal way. Our core values—Freedom, Courage, and Connection—inspire us to realize this ambition.
PCBO Amersfoort supports schools in the areas of facilities, IT, and staffing, and is characterized by active quality management, good employment practices, and fostering collaboration and mutual learning.PCBO Amersfoort is a school board comprising 12 regular elementary schools and one school for special elementary education. PCBO Amersfoort is committed to inclusive education linked to equal opportunity. Every student is welcome at the schools; differences enrich us! Based on a Christian-social identity and with respect for individual uniqueness, children are challenged to develop in a well-rounded and optimal way and to take personal responsibility for learning and living together independently, critically, and respectfully. At the schools, there is a focus on caring for one another, and staff are encouraged to further develop their professional skills.
PCBO Amersfoort has a governance structure consisting of a Supervisory Board (five members) and a two-member Executive Board. Each school has a principal in charge. The Supervisory Board works with three committees: the Agenda, Audit, and Employer Committees. The Education & Quality portfolio is supported by all members, though specific areas of focus may arise. The members of the Supervisory Board work together in a pleasant, engaged, and professional manner. Due to the expiration of the term of office, the position for the Education member will be vacant starting this summer, and the position for the Finance member will become vacant at the end of the year.

PCBO Amersfoort is a sound organization that provides education to approximately 3,300 students. Its financial and educational foundations are solid, and targeted development is taking place in accordance with the strategic plan and school plans. In Amersfoort, there is intensive policy coordination between primary and secondary school boards, local government, and childcare providers through a broad educational agenda centered on the “Inclusive City” policy program, which works toward shared ambitions. Examples include “Kansrijk Funderend Onderwijs” (Opportunity-Rich Foundational Education), internationalization, and curriculum development focused on global citizenship. There is also collaboration within the Regional Transfer Center Transvita, focused on addressing teacher shortages. Educational facilities are managed decentrally by the boards; they are implementing an ambitious construction program and collaborating within a housing cooperative. In the coming years, two new PCBO schools will be established in the Schothorst and Soesterkwartier neighborhoods. An integrated facilities analysis provides oversight of the facilities portfolio, partly based on trends in student enrollment, investments in sustainability and energy, and the organization of education.
