The Rivierenland Public Primary Education Foundation is looking for dynamic, enthusiastic candidates who, through their experience and commitment, want to help shape the future of OPO-R. Do you have a vision for the role of public primary education and are you passionate about equal opportunity? Then we’re looking for you!

Due to vacancies on the board, we are looking for two new board members.

Challenges for the coming period:

  • Taking the quality of OPO-R to the next level in a complex environment,
  • ensuring excellent educational quality in an environment where student numbers are expected to decline. Countering division and fragmentation by forging lasting connections,
  • serve as a model for public education in order to increase the appeal and attractiveness of OPO-R for teachers, students, and parents,
  • involve the communities surrounding the schools more closely in the developments at OPO-R and strengthen collaborative relationships with various community organizations and the neighborhood,
  • ensure a smooth transition to new facilities for two schools.


Profile of New Supervisors for the Regional Board for Primary Education (
) To address the challenges outlined above, the board is seeking new members who can contribute to this effort. We are looking for fresh, dynamic candidates who, through their experience and commitment, want to contribute to the positioning of OPO-R. Do you have a vision for the role of public primary education and are you passionate about equal opportunity? Then we are looking for you!
For the open positions, we are seeking candidates with a passion for education, and for one position, we are also looking for someone with a legal background.



's Personal Profile You are someone who brings the outside world into the classroom, for example through your understanding of the experiences of elementary school students. Ideally, you have gained experience in a social organization such as the arts and culture sector, healthcare, social services, local government, or youth services. You have experience with or a vision for educational reform or innovation and are able to inspire and motivate the board. You are open to playing an active role and are able to build connections. Your open attitude and clear communication command respect. You operate on the basis of trust. Experience in a supervisory role is not required, provided you meet the other competencies listed. Diversity is a top priority, and people from diverse backgrounds are welcome. Required competencies;

  • An open mind and a bird's-eye view,
  • Is outgoing and has a positive attitude,
  • Is committed and self-reliant,
  • Is inquisitive and asks the right questions,

The Rivierenland Public Primary Education Foundation consists of 11 public elementary schools, including 5 in Tiel, 4 in Culemborg, and 1 in Wadenoijen. The foundation also operates a special education elementary school in Tiel. The foundation also has a school for special education in Tiel. Each year, more than 1,700 students attend an OPO-R school. The foundation employs approximately 200 staff members. As public schools, we are open to everyone in society, regardless of religious beliefs or identity. Everyone is welcome as long as there is respect for the differences between people.



Supervisory Board TheSupervisory Board is an independent body with its own responsibilities. The quality of the Supervisory Board’s performance is also part of those responsibilities. Duties of the Supervisory Board: The Supervisory Board oversees the execution of the Board of Directors’ duties and the exercise of its powers. This oversight includes at least the following:




  • approving the budget, the annual report, and the strategic policy plan;
  • monitoring the board’s compliance with legal obligations;
  • overseeing the lawful acquisition and the efficient and lawful allocation and use of the funds of the schools under the Foundation’s administration, obtained pursuant to the Primary Education Act.

In carrying out this task, the Supervisory Board acts in the best interests of the Foundation, the schools supported by the Foundation, and society at large.

The Supervisory Board provides the Board of Directors with both solicited and unsolicited advice and serves as a sounding board for the Board of Directors.
