More about this organization
A family of four—two parents and two children—is sitting together around a table in a cozy, homey atmosphere.

We are seeking two new members for the supervisory board of the MEE De Meent Groep Foundation, which is headquartered in ’s-Hertogenbosch.

Opening up more opportunities for people with disabilities. That’s what MEE De Meent Group does. And that’s why a supervisory board member like you is indispensable!

We are looking for socially engaged candidates with an entrepreneurial spirit, who, for example, have a background in education, local government, or are social entrepreneurs. Candidates with experience in digitalization, technological developments, or innovative trends in prevention and healthcare are also welcome.
Furthermore, you are a creative thinker and are committed to serving society. As part of a team, you are someone who takes the initiative and works as an equal. At the same time, you are able to keep things in perspective and know how to set the right tone in a discussion. You are a strong sparring partner for the board and bring external perspectives to the table. You draw on your own persuasiveness and vision of society in your work.

Diversity and inclusion are core values at MEE De Meent Group! We invite anyone who feels this opportunity is a good fit or who recognizes themselves in the job description to apply. For one of the open positions, we are looking for an entry-level supervisor with the right skills.

Required skills:

  • Bird's-eye view
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Independent in thought and speech
  • Empathetic and people-oriented
  • Self-reflection
  • Integrity
  • Team player
  • Affinity with the target audience

Other skills;

  • Be able to utilize the functional components of oversight as a set of tools, such as governance, transparency, and strategy, and in particular the value component and transformation component (according to NVTZ guidelines);
  • Be able to switch between various communication styles: asking questions respectfully and without judgment, consulting, negotiating, engaging in dialogue, and providing guidance;
  • Understanding and insight into the differences among the regions in which MEE De Meent Groep operates and the implications of these differences for policy, clients, employees, and partnerships;
  • Being intrinsically motivated by the mission and vision that MEE De Meent Group stands for, thereby enabling value-driven oversight;
  • Sufficient time available to fulfill his or her supervisory responsibilities.

MEE De Meent Group

Everyone should be able to participate in society as independently as possible. This includes people with disabilities. That is what MEE De Meent Groep is committed to every day. For over 90 years, MEE has been the leading independent client support organization for people with disabilities, such as mild intellectual disabilities, autism, or acquired brain injury. 320 employees assist clients with questions or problems related to their disabilities. Together with them and their support network, they seek the best solution so that they can move forward as independently as possible. MEE also collaborates with other organizations to build a society where everyone belongs. It serves 130 clients across 49 municipalities in Northeast Brabant, Southeast Brabant, North and Central Limburg, the ’s-Hertogenbosch region, and the Tilburg region.
MEE professionals work in community and neighborhood teams and at Youth & Family Centers. In addition, MEE provides independent client support under the Social Support Act (Wmo), the Youth Care Act, the Participation Act, and the Long-Term Care Act (Wlz)—free of charge and without a referral or assessment. MEE also uses its knowledge and experience to help make society more accessible for people with disabilities.

Dynamic context

The local political landscape for MEE De Meent Groep varies greatly from region to region and is highly dynamic, with new and interesting dimensions emerging. The competitive environment and strategic partnerships require the organization to continuously adapt, innovate, and demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit.
High-quality, accessible, and affordable care and support are under pressure. Not all problems require a medical or care-based solution. Based on the reform agenda and major national agreements (IZA/GALA/WOZO), far-reaching changes are needed in the social sector. Strengthening people’s self-reliance, building stronger networks, focusing on well-being, and scaling back care that is no longer appropriate are fundamental to addressing these challenges.

MEE De Meent Group has established itself as a leading partner for people with (invisible) disabilities. To this end, since 2020 the organization has been consistently working to renew and reinforce five strategic priorities (five commitments to people with disabilities) outlined in its long-term strategy. By deploying its current and new services with existing and new contract and collaboration partners, MEE De Meent Groep removes barriers to participation for people with disabilities. Increasingly, the organization is working within new network organizations and collaborative structures, contributing complementary specialized knowledge and expertise.

Governance in network organizations, contract management, organizational development, innovation, and entrepreneurship are therefore key themes and areas of focus for both management and oversight.

Governance model and composition of the supervisory board

The MEE De Meent Group Foundation follows the Social Work Governance Code in its administrative structure and maintains a separation between management and oversight. The board of directors consists of a single member, who is responsible for the overall management of the organization.

The supervisory board currently consists of five members, including the chair, and is composed in such a way that it can carry out its duties effectively and responsibly. The board operates with focus areas that align with the expertise of its various members.

The Supervisory Board is composed in such a way as to ensure a balance of personalities, enabling its members to act independently and critically toward one another, the CEO, and the governing bodies. The atmosphere among the supervisory board members of MEE De Meent Group and between the supervisory board and the CEO can be characterized as one of mutual respect, trust, complete transparency, and minimal formality, with a down-to-earth mentality.

The board adheres to the principle of oversight from a distance. This requires the board to be able to operate at a strategic level by forming a general assessment of a number of strategic issues and exchanging views on them with the CEO. In doing so, the right balance must be struck between involvement and detachment.

The Supervisory Board meets an average of five times a year. In addition, there is at least one meeting with the Works Council and one with the Client Council (CR). Furthermore, the Supervisory Board, together with the CEO, organizes a theme-based meeting with the Management Team once a year. As an employer, the Board conducts annual performance reviews with the Executive Director. The Board’s own role as a supervisory body is addressed once a year in a self-evaluation.
The Supervisory Board makes an annual working visit to a region and participates in the plenary day of MEE De Meent Group.

Members of the Supervisory Board are appointed for a term of four years. Members may be reappointed for a second term of four years. The annual gross remuneration for a member of the Supervisory Board is approximately €9,000. Travel expenses are reimbursed separately.
