We are looking for two members of the Supervisory Board:
• Profile: Education & Quality
• Profile: Labor Market and Employment
The Christian Education Group Vallei & Gelderland-Midden (COG) consists of four secondary schools and three vocational schools in the Arnhem-Ede region. The secondary schools offer education at all levels: from vocational education to the gymnasium. Together, the vocational schools form a comprehensive ROC, offering education both to students who enter vocational training directly after secondary school and to adults seeking retraining, reskilling, or continuing education (Lifelong Learning).
COG has become a major player in the field of education in the Food Valley and Arnhem regions, with approximately 6,000 students in vocational education (MBO) and just under 4,000 students in secondary education (VO). COG’s educational programs are characterized by a strong sense of commitment and are organized on a small scale.
Every day, we strive to challenge pupils, students, and participants to grow as individuals and as members of society. We prepare them for their role in society. Our education therefore goes beyond simply imparting subject knowledge. We offer pupils, students, and participants a place where they can meet and develop in complete safety and openness. In our Strategic Perspective 2023–2026, we have outlined our course for the coming years and summarized our ambitions in four pillars. We focus on each other, on differences, on the environment, and on the future.
COG is organized according to the two-tier model. This means that the Executive Board carries out its duties under the supervision of the Supervisory Board. The Supervisory Board shapes its oversight of the COG Foundation in accordance with the foundation’s identity. This means that the members of the Supervisory Board endorse the foundation’s identity as set forth in the Articles of Incorporation, the COG Supervisory Board Regulations, and the Strategic Perspective, and promote it wherever possible. The Supervisory Board acts in accordance with the principles of trust, role-specificity, commitment, inspiration, dialogue, and development. The Supervisory Board’s vision is set forth in the document “Vision on Oversight of the COG Foundation.” The Supervisory Board endorses the “Sector Code for Good Governance in Vocational Education” and the “Code for Good Educational Governance in Vocational Education.”
We have two positions available on our Supervisory Board. For one of these positions, we are also open to younger candidates for whom this would be their first supervisory role.
All members of the Supervisory Board are expected to:
The Supervisory Board has three committees, namely:
Depending on their expertise and interests, a decision will be made as to which committee the new supervisors will serve on.
The Supervisory Board operates according to an annual schedule. In addition to six regular board meetings, there are approximately two additional meetings on relevant topics and visits to COG’s organization. There are also committee meetings to prepare for the Supervisory Board’s plenary sessions.
Given the diversity of COG’s students, teachers, staff, and course participants, we are specifically seeking candidates who will contribute to the diversity and breadth of the Board of Trustees. In this case, given the current composition of the board, we are particularly interested in at least one younger candidate and one candidate with an immigrant background. We also invite candidates who do not yet have supervisory experience but are eager to gain this experience with us.
When determining the amount of remuneration and expense allowances for members of the Supervisory Board, the laws and regulations governing the compensation of senior executives in the (semi-)public sector and the Industry Code are taken into account.
The Appointments Advisory Committee consists of two members of the Supervisory Board, two employee representatives, and the Chair of the Executive Board, who serves as an advisory member. COG is being assisted in this process by Colourful People. For further questions about the process or the job description, please contact Melek Usta at Colourful People. She can be reached at m.usta@colourfulpeople.nl or by phone at 06-20424347.
You can apply by submitting your cover letter and resume no later than May 28, 2023, via the application button on this page. Interviews with the COG Selection and Advisory Committee will take place on Monday, June 19, 2023, starting at 1:00 p.m.
