
Given the current composition of the Board of Trustees, we are seeking candidates who will enhance the Board’s diversity. Due to the expiration of the current terms of office, two vacancies are opening up: one with a specific focus on governance and the other on fundraising (see disciplines 1 and 3 below).
The National Fund for Peace, Freedom, and Veterans (Vfonds) is an independent, private foundation that, drawing on lessons learned from war and conflict, aims to contribute to a strong democratic constitutional state and a peaceful society. In line with this mission, we support projects that align with the achievement of our four objectives:
The Supervisory Board is responsible for overseeing the policies of the Executive Director and the general affairs of vfonds; it advises the Executive Director and serves as the Executive Director’s employer.
The members of the supervisory board operate at an academic level of work and thought and possess extensive management experience gained in a relevant organization of comparable complexity. The members of the supervisory board are intrinsically motivated to dedicate themselves to an organization with a charitable, social mission and have experience working at the intersection of the public and private sectors.
The composition of the supervisory board reflects diversity in terms of gender, age, and sociocultural background. Each member of the supervisory board:
Members of the supervisory board are independent and bring added value through their specific knowledge and experience in one or more of the following disciplines or fields:
The Supervisory Board consists of a minimum of five and a maximum of seven independent members, chaired by Mr. A.G.J.M. Rombouts, LL.M., Ph.D. Members of the Supervisory Board are appointed for a term of four years and may be reappointed once for another four years.
Since 2018, vfonds has been located in Utrecht at Lucasbolwerk 10. vfonds consists of a supervisory board, an executive director, and a policy-preparing, executive office (approximately 17 people). The supervisory board generally meets four times a year (on Fridays). The total time commitment is expected to be eight working days per year. It is an unpaid position; an expense allowance is paid quarterly.
