More about this organization
A smiling girl, wearing a white shirt, is making a heart shape with her hands in front of her eye.

Levvel is a unique, innovative organization at the forefront of youth care and support that uses courage and passion to help children, young people, and (foster) families in difficult situations get back on track. We are looking for two new members of the Supervisory Board: one with a background in HR/labor market and one with a background in digitalization/innovation. Does this sound like you? Then we’d love to hear from you!

LEVVEL

In the Netherlands, youth services and child and adolescent psychiatry are still too often two separate worlds. At Levvel, those worlds come together. All the help and support you need under one roof: from parenting support to highly complex psychiatric care, and with tailored education when growing up and learning don’t come naturally. We always look at what children, young people, and families truly need. We tailor our support and treatment accordingly. Even if that means we have to bend the rules. We work closely together and learn from one another. This allows us to continually renew ourselves. Everyone is welcome at Levvel. Everyone is different. We recognize those differences. Whether you’re attracted to boys or girls. Grow up in a religious family, or don’t believe in anything. We think it’s important that you can be who you are. Regardless of race, religion, gender, or who you’re attracted to. We believe that despite those differences, we’re actually often very much alike. To make that visible and tangible, we brought all kinds of people together one day. (see video).

Organization

This large and versatile organization, primarily active in the Amsterdam/North Holland region, was formed in July 2020 through a merger between Spirit and de Bascule, to which the former Lijn5 was added just over a year ago. With the Levvel Infographic, Levvel provides an overview of who we are and what we stand for. Scientific research into effectiveness and evidence-based care is an important part of Levvel’s work. In addition to youth care and youth support, Levvel provides special education to many children in the Amsterdam region through six PI schools. Levvel also owns the research agency PI Research. The entire holding company employs approximately 2,150 staff members who help more than 6,700 children, young people, and families annually, making Levvel the leading provider of youth care and youth support in the capital.

Wanted: Two members of the Supervisory Board

Due to the expiration of the terms of several of our members, we are seeking two new members for Levvel’s Supervisory Board, effective December 1, 2023, and February 1, 2024. Both new members will serve on the Audit Committee. For these positions, we are looking for candidates with (a combination of) specific experience and expertise, so that together they possess:

  • Expertise and experience in digitalization, innovation, and AI
  • Expertise and experience in HR and the labor market

Profile: Member with responsibility for digitization, innovation, and AI

Ideally, you are an experienced advisor, manager, or executive with broad experience in digitalization, AI, and innovation within public organizations or the private sector. Young people, including those at Levvel, are increasingly living in an online world alongside the offline world. As a supervisor, you can contribute to the strategic and ethical considerations regarding the further development of digitization and AI within Levvel. You will advise and collaborate with the board on a future-proof structure for the organization and its services, and help Levvel innovate in the application of electronic record-keeping, e-health, and other forms of digitization in online services and social assistance.

Profile: Member with responsibility for HR/labor market

Fortunately, people enjoy working at Levvel—there is a strong sense of camaraderie and mutual connection, and we are highly valued by our students and parents. However, Levvel also faces challenges such as work pressure, administrative burdens, and two different collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) with the associated negotiations. As a member of the supervisory board with a focus on HR/labor market issues, you therefore preferably have extensive experience with strategic personnel policy, employee well-being, work pressure, diversity and inclusion, leadership, and other personnel matters. You have a clear vision of the value of employee and personnel policy and can reflect at a strategic level and advise the board and the executive board on HR and labor market-related developments.

Supervisory Board

Levvel is governed according to the Supervisory Board model, under which the two members of the Executive Board are responsible for strategy and management, while the Supervisory Board ensures that the Executive Board takes Levvel’s social objectives into account when formulating policy and carrying out its management duties. The Supervisory Board also assesses the organization’s overall performance and ensures good employment practices and effective governance. To this end, the Supervisory Board advises both directors and serves as a sounding board. This is done with an appropriate, statutorily defined division of roles between the supervisory body and the management, and a vision of effective oversight. The Supervisory Board currently consists of seven members, and we are committed to ensuring that, even with the addition of new members, the Supervisory Board remains a reflection of our society in terms of gender, background, age, and social perspectives.

The Supervisory Board meets at least six times a year and as often as necessary. In addition, there are regular working visits to various departments within Levvel, where your presence as a supervisor is appreciated. The atmosphere and working style are professional, with an open and constructively critical culture of communication; the Board functions as a team in which everyone’s strengths are utilized and respected. Independence, commitment, trust, and integrity are key pillars of this approach. The Board has established various committees, such as an audit committee, a quality, safety, and innovation committee, and an employer committee, which prepare decisions and provide advice to the Supervisory Board under the responsibility of the full Board.

Members are appointed for a term of four years, with the possibility of renewal for up to four additional years, and receive an annual compensation of 12,500 euros commensurate with the complexity of the organization. In addition to specific competencies, we expect new members to meet the general profile for members of the Supervisory Board, as outlined below.

Who are we looking for?

Each member of our Board of Trustees possesses the following qualities:

  • An affinity for the healthcare sector in general and the foundation’s social objectives;
  • Strong ties to the community and a relevant network;
  • Be able to act independently and critically in relation to one another and the directors;
  • A variety of social backgrounds, areas of expertise, and diversity in terms of gender, age, regional ties, and disciplines are represented, including, for example, healthcare, finance and economics, social sciences, and business administration;
  • The ability to serve as a sounding board and sparring partner for the Board of Directors;
  • The ability to communicate with employee representative bodies and actively engage with them in accordance with the Healthcare Governance Code.
