Together with your team and fellow team leaders, you will oversee animal welfare, animal health, and food safety in the Slaughter Inspection department.
The NVWA is looking for a Food Safety and Animal Welfare Team Manager. A leader with a passion for people, who finds fulfillment in leading and coaching a team.
In this role within the Slaughter Inspection Department, you will lead one of the Red Meat teams. The teams consist of 20 colleagues from diverse backgrounds: supervising veterinarians (university degree), inspectors (associate’s degree), and support staff for inspection (vocational degree).
And you? As Team Manager, you’re the biggest supporter of these passionate professionals.
As a team manager, you lead a team of skilled experts who conduct daily inspections and perform oversight. Your team members work independently on-site and have a strong sense of responsibility. You ensure that you stay in regular contact with them. You understand the context in which your team members do their work, even when working remotely. You are constantly working to improve processes and support employees so they can do their jobs even better. You have a clear vision for the future and lead your team as you explore new paths. It is important that you know how to provide guidance, build support, and at the same time listen to the needs of your employees. One of the exciting challenges for you as a Team Manager, for example, is facilitating task variety and encouraging consistent work practices.
In addition to your own team, you are part of your department’s Management Team (MT). During department meetings, you raise issues that are important to your own team and collaborate with fellow Team Managers on department-wide topics. For example, each Team Manager is responsible for a number of specific portfolios that they handle on behalf of the entire department. You analyze where improvements can be made in existing work processes and address these in a constructive and appreciative manner. Your fellow team managers serve as your support network; you can always turn to one another for questions and advice. Together, you are responsible for the department’s results and cover for one another when absent. Building connections and collaborating are therefore key aspects of your role as a team leader.
Do you have management experience and an interest in food safety, animal health, and animal welfare? Are you uniquely capable of bringing calm and direction to a team of passionate experts at various levels? And do you enjoy analyzing (team) processes and taking them to the next level? If so, we’re looking for you!
