More about this organization
Four children of different ages are sitting together against a concrete wall, smiling at the camera.

Youth Protection West is a Certified Institution serving the Haaglanden and South Holland regions. Ensuring every child’s long-term safety is our mission. We provide round-the-clock support for children in the most complex situations. Our approach focuses on creating a sustainable, safe foundation for the child. By working closely with the child, the parents, their support network, and the involved social workers, we aim to break existing problematic family patterns. We work methodically, using the FFP approach, and continuously learn from and reflect on our actions. This means we take a comprehensive view of the entire family, analyzing family patterns together with the family and their support network, and then deploying the support needed to help them break these underlying patterns.

Are you our new Team Manager for our location in The Hague?

We are looking for a team manager for our location in The Hague, working 32–36 hours per week

When children or adolescents have engaged in criminal behavior, we strive to prevent further criminal behavior. In such situations, we work together with the child, the parents, the support network, and the relevant professionals to restore long-term safety, including by establishing safety agreements.

To ensure a consistently safe environment, we continuously monitor safety. In doing so, we pay particular attention to identifying sexual abuse and the impact on children growing up in a family facing divorce-related issues.

We use our expertise to maximize value-added work and prevent waste. By "value-added work," we mean everything that contributes to the child's long-term safety.

We are part of the safety network and work closely with neighborhood and youth teams.

In addition, we advise municipalities on appropriate care services. We do this based on the belief that unsafe situations for children can be prevented through (early intervention with) the right measures.

The position

Our child welfare workers do meaningful and demanding work. They need to feel safe and energized as they carry out their duties. That is why we provide optimal support, guidance, training, time for reflection, and access to specialized expertise.

Together with a behavioral scientist and the discussion facilitator, you will lead the discussion of the case studies.

You will also contribute to the organization’s development. We focus on tailored solutions and working as a single team, so that we can deploy the expertise needed to ensure every child is safely placed in the right setting at the right time.

As a team manager, you represent and position Jeugdbescherming West within the service area. You provide coaching leadership to a team of professionals, guiding them in their development toward becoming a self-directed team.

You will have overall responsibility for achieving the objectives related to quality, productivity, human resources, finance, and external relations within the region’s established budget.

Together with other team managers, you will (also) help foster close collaboration with supply chain partners at the regional and municipal levels.

For this position, we are looking for someone who naturally champions and practices inclusivity and diversity, is more process-oriented than action-oriented, and is available to work on Fridays. It is a plus if you are willing to collaborate with other colleagues in shaping the operational management of the entire organization.

Your profile

  • A natural advocate for inclusivity and diversity;
  • HBO+ level of work and thinking;
  • An inspiring and coaching leadership style; focused on a collective learning process;
  • A strong and charismatic personality;
  • A flexible and solution-oriented approach;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues facing target groups and the service delivery processes within youth care;
  • Interest in youth protection
  • Experience with change management;
  • A skilled networker who thrives in and has a knack for diverse environments;
  • Excellent ability to build connections and a commitment to equality as a core value.
  • It would be a plus if you also have the following:
  • Knowledge of financial and budgetary matters;
  • Experience with business operations processes;
  • Experience in managing the effective allocation of personnel and resources;
  • Experience in identifying relevant trends and effectively translating them into innovations in products, services, or processes;

Skills:Quality-oriented, customer-focused, self-reflection, results-oriented, entrepreneurial spirit, coaching, situational awareness, teamwork, communication skills, analytical and interpersonal skills.

Our offerings

  • A one-year fixed-term employment contract (if you currently have a permanent employment contract with Jeugdbescherming West, you will retain it);
  • Salary in accordance with the Youth Care Collective Bargaining Agreement: pay scale 12, up to €6,078.02 gross per month for a 36-hour workweek;
  • Terms of employment in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Youth Care.
