Our youth protection workers do meaningful and demanding work. They need to feel safe and energized while performing their duties. That is why we, as an organization, and you, as a manager, provide optimal support and guidance. You provide coaching leadership to a team of professionals, guiding them in their development toward becoming a self-directed team. Together with a behavioral scientist and the discussion facilitator, you will lead the discussion of the substantive case studies.
You will also contribute to the organization’s development. This involves a focus on tailored solutions and working as a unified team, ensuring that the expertise needed to keep every child safe at all times can be deployed in the right place and at the right time. We value approaching this from various (cultural) perspectives. As a team manager, you are attentive to a work environment with people from different cultures, religions, and backgrounds, and you help ensure that our policies are culturally sensitive. In doing so, you create a socially safe environment, care for employees, and promote equality in the workplace.
Together with your regional management team, you are responsible for achieving the objectives in terms of quality, productivity, human resources policy, finances, and external relations within the region’s established budget. As a team manager, you represent and position Jeugdbescherming West externally in this region. Together with the other team managers, you (also) foster close collaboration with partners in the care chain at the regional and municipal levels.
For this position, we are specifically looking for someone who is more process-oriented than action-oriented and is available to work on Fridays.
If you have experience with business operations processes, along with knowledge of financial and budgetary matters, and the effective deployment of people and resources, and/or experience in identifying relevant trends and effectively translating them into innovations in products, services, or processes, that would be an asset.
Do you recognize yourself in the description above and in (some of) the following competencies? If so, we look forward to receiving your application. Competencies: quality-oriented, customer-focused, self-reflection, results-oriented, entrepreneurial spirit, coaching, situational awareness, teamwork, communication skills, cultural sensitivity, analytical skills, and the ability to build connections.
Youth Protection West is a Certified Institution serving the Haaglanden, South Holland, and Zeeland regions. Ensuring every child’s long-term safety is our mission. We work around the clock to support children in the most complex situations. Our approach focuses on creating a sustainable, safe foundation for the child. By working closely with the child, the parents, their network, and the involved social workers, we aim to break existing family patterns that lead to insecurity. We work methodically, based on the FFP approach, and continuously learn from and reflect on our actions. This means that, together with the family and their network, we analyze these family patterns and deploy formal and informal support services to help the family break these patterns.
When children or adolescents have engaged in criminal behavior, we strive to prevent further criminal behavior. In such situations, we work together with the child, the parents, the support network, and the relevant professionals to restore long-term safety, including by establishing safety agreements.
To ensure a consistently safe environment, we continuously monitor safety. In doing so, we pay particular attention to identifying sexual abuse and the impact on children growing up in a family facing divorce-related issues.
We use our expertise to maximize value-added work and prevent waste. By “value-added work,” we mean everything that contributes to the child’s long-term safety. We are part of the safety chain and collaborate with neighborhood and youth teams. In addition, we advise municipalities on appropriate care services. We do this based on the conviction that unsafe situations for children can be prevented through (early intervention with) the right measures.
Our families are diverse and come from a wide range of backgrounds. As an organization, we strive to have a diverse workforce at every level that reflects society.
The position is being advertised both internally and externally. We look forward to receiving your application as soon as possible. The application deadline is February 16, 2024.
The first interviews will take place on February 27 and 29, 2024.
