Leadership that creates space. For all children, families, and colleagues in Almere.
Contributing to a city and region where children can grow up safely, healthily, and with opportunities: that’s where you, as a Youth and Family Team Manager, make a difference.
In a field that is under pressure and requires smart decisions, you will focus on providing direction, building trust, and fostering collaboration. You will lead a team of expert policy professionals and help develop an approach that allows us to identify issues earlier, normalize what is considered standard, and offer assistance where it is truly needed.
Almere is built on diversity—in people, stories, and perspectives. And that is precisely where our strength lies. We are looking for a team manager who stays the course and gives others the space to make their voices heard.
The youth sector is under significant pressure. The demand for assistance is rising, budgets are under strain, and societal expectations remain high. At the same time, the direction is clear: Almere is investing in a future-proof approach that emphasizes prevention, collaboration, and normalization. This requires a profound shift in how we think, work, and collaborate.
As a team manager, you provide direction for this initiative. You focus on innovative policies, strong partnerships, and a team that is capable of tackling this challenge and embraces it.
You will lead a team of approximately 15 policy advisors and account managers. They work on issues such as youth services, youth health care, safety, and family support. The team is also responsible for managing accounts with key partners such as the Municipal Health Service (GGD) and youth service providers.
You know what it’s like to work in a fast-paced environment with many competing interests. You stay the course when the pressure mounts and never lose sight of what really matters: better policies for children, youth, and families in Almere. You understand that teams grow stronger from diverse perspectives and consciously make room for them. Whether you arrived here via the well-trodden path or followed a different route: what counts is how you get people moving, with care and conviction.
We are looking for a leader who is firm yet open-minded. Someone who makes clear decisions, but always with consideration for the people around them. Someone who encourages ownership, even when things get tough, and engages in conversation in a way that invites others to join in.
The Health and Welfare Department is constantly evolving. We focus on youth, health, community engagement, and safety, always keeping residents’ needs in mind. We take an integrated, data-driven approach, guided by the belief that policy only works if it serves the people it is intended to help.
Almere is a city where people from diverse backgrounds, with different perspectives and experiences, live—and work—together. That diversity makes us stronger. We’re looking for leaders who make room for others and also take the initiative themselves. Maybe you don’t always see yourself in the typical image of a team manager. Or perhaps you’ve taken a different path than usual. Whatever your background, if you see yourself in this role, we warmly invite you to apply. We’re curious to hear your story.
What matters to us is that you find fulfillment in the work you do! Together, we contribute every day—in our own innovative and warm-hearted way—to making Almere an even better, more sustainable, and future-proof city. We believe that this positive social impact energizes us and makes our work rewarding. You’ll be able to do all of this as part of a reliable and dynamic team that values you as an individual and supports your ambitions.
