More about this organization
Two women talking in the office, one wearing blue glasses and dreadlocks, the other in a yellow sweater sitting at a computer screen.

This position was recently posted and received many enthusiastic responses, but we weren’t able to find the right fit at that time. So we’re continuing our search—maybe you’re the one we’re looking for!

Justice is important to you. You have a soft spot for people who struggle to navigate the legal system. As the leader of two teams, you help pave the way toward justice. You enjoy using your skills to lead and inspire the teams. With energy and courage, you help further strengthen our services.

You lead by setting an example for your team and inspiring others to follow that example. When you put those qualities to work toward a worthy cause, you have a job where you truly make a difference. That cause is “A fair solution for everyone.”

We have dedicated consultants, and we know exactly who we’re working for. We operate based on a clear vision. We are increasingly focusing our services on finding appropriate solutions for the people who seek our help. Professional autonomy and a results-oriented approach are becoming increasingly important in our teams. We are looking for team leaders who, together with our teams, want to bring our new vision to life. Team leaders who are capable of trying out new ways of working, who facilitate, inspire, and challenge teams as they embrace change.

Here's how you can help us help others

We are increasingly focusing on collaborating with other organizations in the region. Because we cannot—and do not want to—do this important work alone. This requires a different way of thinking and working—changes that you will lead your team through. You are there for the team as a whole and for each individual colleague. As a manager, you know how important teamwork is. You know how to create the conditions for it and how to help people adapt to new ways of working. Seeing the quality of our services improve gives you a great sense of satisfaction and the energy to continue on the path you’ve set with your team.

This is your team

You’ll be given a significant amount of responsibility: leading two teams of expert (senior) legal advisors. They assist people seeking legal advice by phone, at the front desk, or during consultation hours. To them, you’ll be visible, easily reachable, and approachable. You’ll work closely with our network partners, colleagues in operations, and, of course, the people on your teams.

The team in Utrecht currently consists of twelve colleagues. The team assists people seeking legal assistance from our office on Catharijnesingel. The Amersfoort team does the same with eight colleagues from the office on Asch van Wijckstraat, a 10-minute walk from Amersfoort Station. Both teams work independently, but they also collaborate when it adds value. For example, colleagues assist with reception or telephone services at the other office when needed.

Together with the branches in The Hague and Leiden, these two branches form the Mid-West region. The region generally covers the province of Utrecht and the northern part of South Holland. In the region, you’ll be part of the Regional Management Team (RMT): together with your regional head, a regional director, and two fellow team leaders, you’ll form the RMT. You’ll work closely together to implement your joint regional plan: you’ll collectively define the content and direction of the changes the teams are facing. There is plenty of room for the “local flavor” of the branches, and at the same time, there is energy within the RMT when it comes to shared topics and approaches. Ideas and inspiration abound in the regional management team. And if you want to bounce ideas off others regarding issues, you can turn to fellow team leaders and your regional manager.

This is you

You are a leader. Someone who takes the initiative and sets an example. You collaborate and contribute ideas, but you’re also critical and aren’t afraid to speak up when things aren’t going well. You communicate clearly, empathetically, and with a sense of humor. You’re also what we call “functionally stubborn.” Because innovation, of course, also means we need to be able to challenge existing patterns.

You monitor progress and development, and you know exactly what needs to be done to keep things moving forward. You take an interest in current events in society, particularly in your region. You have at least an associate’s degree, you have experience working in legal services or the social sector, and you can explain why you are the right person for this position.

What we offer you

You will play a key role in an organization that makes a difference in society. This comes with appropriate compensation:

• Your salary falls under Scale K of the Legal Aid Collective Bargaining Agreement, ranging from €4,989 to a maximum of €7,006 based on a 36-hour workweek.

• You’ll receive a contract for a minimum of 32 and a maximum of 36 hours; the choice is yours.

• You will receive all standard employment benefits in accordance with the Legal Assistance Collective Bargaining Agreement (CAO), such as an 8.3% year-end bonus, a fitness allowance, a 2/3 contribution toward your pension premiums, generous parental leave provisions, the option to buy or sell leave, the option for a 40-hour workweek and compensatory leave, participation in a bicycle plan, etc.

• You’ll become part of an ambitious and supportive regional management team (regional manager, regional director, and 3 team leaders), where you can find inspiration and bounce ideas off others.

• We offer you plenty of opportunities and support for your personal development. You’ll have access to training and coaching, and you’ll participate in the leadership development program.

• You will work at both locations (Utrecht and Amersfoort), and regional management team meetings are usually held at the The Hague office, near The Hague Central Station.

Is this your job?

We look forward to receiving your application by May 26 at the latest! Click on “Apply” and the rest is self-explanatory. The first round of interviews will take place on Thursday, June 5. An assessment is part of this application process.
