Would you like to work in a role where you can truly make a difference in Amsterdam Nieuw-West? Are you looking for a place where your ideas, culture, experience, and background are a valuable asset? At Eigenwijks, you’ll have the opportunity to work with residents, colleagues, and partners to build strong neighborhoods, an accessible organization, and a community where people feel seen and welcome.

About Our Work

We believe in the power of residents. Everyone’s background, knowledge, and perspective are valuable and welcome. With community building and hospitality as our foundation, we work within neighborhoods to foster connections, engagement, and resident-led initiatives. For us, diversity is not an end in itself, but a natural starting point: as an organization, we aim to reflect the district and work together to prepare for social developments.

Are you an experienced team leader who enjoys working in a dynamic and diverse environment? Do you have a passion for the neighborhood and are you driven to make a difference in Amsterdam Nieuw-West? If so, we warmly invite you to apply!

What will you be doing?

As a Community Development Team Leader, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of community development workers, social and cultural workers, hospitality staff, and volunteers. Together, you will ensure that residents feel welcome, can pursue their own initiatives, and are actively involved in their neighborhood. Your role is multifaceted and varied.

  • Leadership and Team Development: You are the unifying force in your team. You create a pleasant, safe, and professional work environment where employees feel valued, take responsibility, and continue to grow. You encourage collaboration between community development and hospitality and ensure the quality of the work.
  • Networking and Visibility: You actively maintain contact with resident networks, volunteer organizations, the municipality, and other partners. You are the face of Eigenwijks in the neighborhood and effectively communicate our mission.
  • Development and Innovation: You monitor social and policy developments in the district and the social sector and translate these into new ideas, projects, and (grant-funded) initiatives. You contribute ideas regarding substantive and organizational innovation and help ensure the long-term sustainability of Eigenwijks.
  • Member of the management team: Together with the other team leaders, the operations manager, and the director, you form the management team. You actively contribute to strategy, policy, and organizational development.

What are we looking for in you?

  • You have experience leading teams and thrive in a dynamic work environment.
  • You have knowledge of and an interest in community building, resident participation, and/or the social sector.
  • You have a people-oriented, motivational, and situational leadership style.
  • You think strategically, are entrepreneurial, and see opportunities for growth and collaboration.
  • You believe in the power of residents and know how to bring people and ideas together.
  • You bring energy, a sense of perspective, and a sense of humor.

What do we offer?

  • A meaningful, varied, and challenging position for 32 hours per week.
  • A dedicated, diverse, and enthusiastic team where everyone is welcome and feels at home.
  • Opportunities for initiative, growth, and innovation.
  • A competitive salary and benefits in accordance with the Social Work Collective Bargaining Agreement (scale 11).
