The position
As a team leader in the planning department, you will work closely with your fellow team leader. This team is responsible for short- and long-term planning, including scheduling consultations between healthcare professionals and parents and children in Amsterdam and the Amstelland region. This work is carried out by a team of approximately 30 client planners, 2 capacity planners, and 3 to 4 administrative support staff.
You are constantly working to professionalize the planning department. You identify organization-wide trends and coordinate improvements, always keeping the public interest of the Amsterdam Municipal Health Service (GGD Amsterdam) in mind. Practices at Youth Health Care (JGZ) are constantly evolving. This means you must carefully consider when to follow an established procedure and when to devise your own creative yet appropriate solution.
Here's what you do on an average day
- You oversee the day-to-day operations of the planning office. When disruptions occur, you take action to resolve them.
- You will manage the staff at the planning office. This means you will hold regular progress meetings, but you will also be responsible for tasks such as absence management.
- You will participate in and lead projects to facilitate effective collaboration among various internal and external partners.
- You identify areas for improvement and innovation within your team and take proactive steps to address them.
This is where you get started
We strive to be a great employer that ensures all our colleagues feel seen and valued. We embrace the differences among our colleagues; these differences lead to better results for both our organization and our city. We aim to build a workforce that reflects Amsterdam’s diverse population. So, whoever you are, you’re more than welcome here!
The planning office team underwent a reorganization last year. This placed significant demands on the staff. The needs of the various colleagues on the team vary: some are further along in their professional development, while others require more guidance and (personal) attention. In general, there is room for improvement in areas such as collaboration, and giving and receiving feedback among colleagues. As a team leader, you understand these challenges and are able to work on the development of both individuals and the team as a whole.
What does the team do?
The client planners are responsible for the short-term scheduling of the professionals who work in neighborhood teams. Neighborhood teams located close to one another collaborate within a cluster. There are a total of 7 clusters. Within each cluster, client planners from multiple teams work together. In addition, the two capacity planners are responsible for long-term planning and providing professional coaching to the client planners. Finally, there are a number of administrative support staff who report to the planning office.
