This is where you'll be working:
The Online Team Leader reports to the Head of Marketing & Communications and works closely with the Communications, Marketing, Promotion, and Research teams to collectively contribute to AVROTROS’s goals.
As Online Team Leader, you will lead a diverse team of 13 editors and content producers. This team is responsible for creating valuable content for the AVROTROS website and dozens of social media channels. Much of this content is related to our programming lineup, but the team also produces standalone, non-linear content with the goal of reaching an even wider audience.
Here's what you'll be doing:
As Online Team Leader, you hold a unique and important position within AVROTROS. You have final responsibility for devising and executing all online activities for all our programs and themes. This means you’ll be in frequent contact with program managers, editorial teams, communications advisors, and presenters, for example. You’ll set the strategic direction for the platforms, monitor quality and maintain a comprehensive overview, and make adjustments as needed.
- You will coach, inspire, motivate, and lead a team of 13 people;
- You will oversee the implementation and preparation of online plans and develop, monitor, and innovate the strategy for platform-independent online content;
- You will be responsible for final editing of articles, non-linear content (short and long form), podcasts, newsletters, and other formats;
- You will oversee the content production process, from concept to publication;
- You will have final responsibility for the content, design, and overall look and feel of the AVROTROS website and dozens of social media channels;
- You closely follow trends and user behavior on social media and know how to incorporate these insights into our content;
- You are creative and, in consultation with the team, program managers, external producers, and the NPO, can come up with new angles to strengthen our titles and themes across media through extended content;
- You will be jointly responsible for preparing and monitoring the online budget;
- You use data where necessary and appropriate to produce and distribute AVROTROS content as effectively as possible;
- You are familiar with new technologies (including AI) and know how to apply them appropriately;
- You will work closely with the Marketing and Communications team leaders and contribute to the shared goals.

The Ideal Online Team Leader…
- has an affinity for AVROTROS’s mission and vision and its programming (meaning they have an intrinsic desire to bring culture to people every single day);
- is an experienced media professional who has made a name for himself in online media;
- is an experienced manager in a similar role;
- has at least five years of demonstrable experience in both content and organizational matters;
- has excellent and inclusive social and communication skills;
- can handle resistance and possesses natural persuasiveness;
- is able to handle stress, takes the initiative, and is proactive.
Here's what we offer:
In addition to a challenging position within an ambitious and creative organization, we offer a 36-hour-per-week employment contract for a period of one year, with the possibility of extension. The position is classified in pay scale H, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Broadcasting Personnel.
This collective bargaining agreement covers, among other things:
- A salary ranging from €3,651.03 to €5,742.43 gross per month. This depends on your work experience;
- 8% vacation pay;
- 6% December bonus;
- Travel allowance of €0.21 per kilometer (up to 100 kilometers per day);
- The freedom to exchange holidays and use our prayer and meditation rooms;
- A group pension plan;
- A wheelchair-accessible building with modifications where necessary.
