As a team leader, you play a coordinating and collaborative role in organizing and delivering the Master’s program in Medicine both domestically and internationally. The Master’s team consists of ten staff members, each of whom, from their respective positions, facilitates the processes of the Master’s program and internationalization activities for the degree programs.

What are you going to do?

As a team leader, you play a key role in coordinating and supporting the organization and delivery of the Master’s program in Medicine, both domestically and internationally. The Master’s team consists of ten staff members, each of whom, from their respective roles, facilitates the processes related to the Master’s program and internationalization activities for the degree programs.

The Master’s program in medicine is constantly evolving. For example, program-based assessments were recently introduced, and graduating with honors has been abolished. The curriculum will also be revised to remain aligned with a changing healthcare landscape and evolving demand for physicians (including outside of hospitals). If you enjoy helping the program adapt to current and future developments, this role offers a great opportunity.

You will:

  • contribute to and ensure the accurate and timely execution of the educational processes supported by the Master’s team (logistical, administrative, secretarial, and functional in nature);
  • building new relationships and maintaining existing ones with a wide range of internal and external partners (clinical rotation coordinators, the examination board, colleagues at VU University Amsterdam, partner hospitals, and students);
  • serve as a manager for the employees on your team, with a clear focus on knowledge transfer, development, and mentoring;
  • hold working meetings with the director of studies and the master’s program coordinators;
  • coordinate the provision of information to students. In specific situations, you will communicate directly with individual students;
  • providing input and advice regarding the feasibility of the curriculum, including its scheduling.

What are you bringing?

  • academic level of work and thinking;
  • management experience, preferably within an educational institution;
  • an affinity for and experience in working with complex planning issues;
  • thorough knowledge of computer systems (MS Office) and a willingness to learn new applications;
  • Knowledge of educational support applications is a plus;
  • knowledge of and experience in designing and developing work processes and procedures.

You are a skilled networker, focused on collaboration and building connections. You are skilled and experienced in planning and organizing, and your practical approach allows you to adapt quickly and deliver quality results even under pressure. With your excellent communication skills, flexible attitude, and organizational sensitivity, you navigate smoothly through a complex organization like this one. As a team leader, you enjoy taking the initiative and know how to inspire colleagues and partners with your enthusiasm.

What do we offer you?

  • A one-year contract with the possibility of a permanent position.
  • Salary range for Grade 10: €3,493to€5,504 gross for full-time employment (depending on education and experience). You will also receive, among other benefits, an 8.3% year-end bonus and an 8% vacation allowance.Calculate your net salary here.
  • Free and unlimited access to our online learning platform, GoodHabitz.
  • Pension accrual through the ABP, for which we pay 70% of the contribution.
  • Currently, you receive a (partial) reimbursement for your public transportation costs, but starting in October, you’ll receive full reimbursement. Would you rather commute by bike? If so, we have a great bike program.
  • An active staff association and the Jong Amsterdam UMC association, both of which organize fun (sports-related) activities and events.

Where will you be working?

You will be working within the Faculty of Medicine at VU Amsterdam. The Faculty of Medicine is responsible for the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Medicine, as well as the Master’s programs in Oncology, Personalized Medicine, and Epidemiology.

The faculty comprises several departments, including Education & Student Affairs (O&S). The O&S department is responsible for educational support processes, particularly in the areas of logistics, secretarial work, and administration. The O&S department consists of three teams: the Bachelor’s Team, the Master’s Team, and the Education Service Center Team.

The Master’s program in medicine is a three-year, intensive program. After completing the Bachelor’s degree in medicine, each resident follows an individualized study plan that includes scheduled rotations. These rotations take place at a large number of hospitals with which the VU Faculty of Medicine collaborates. The staff members on your team plan these study tracks and ensure they run smoothly by, among other things, providing comprehensive information to students and hospitals.
